MAP Sensor Vacuum Line Replacement woes..

Hi, My vacuum line snapped off at the black plastic piece connected to the MAP.

Is it possible to replace the line without going full front end service mode? I can get to the brake booster line connector with IC removed but the map line seems to be under another hose... Thanks!

FES mode takes literally 15 minutes minus coolant drain time. Sure it can be done but will take 10x longer

True, problem is I don't have coolant on hand and need to mail order it from where I am. Distilled water and a bottle of water wetter could work as a temp fix I suppose.

That must be a very remote location. The blue Euro stuff is at every big box and auto parts store in the U.S. Two day delivery on Amazon too.

As for distilled H20 / Water Wetter, not sure. WW helps with cooling efficiency but does not necessarily bring anti-boil over properties that the coolant brings beyond those of the system remaining under pressure (with no leaks allowed). Depending on how hot it is where you are, might be preferable to await delivery of that jug of Prestone or Peak (and order a second one for backup / contingencies / next coolant change).

If you're in a hurry, you can recover the coolant that is in the car now in a big plastic pan / box and reuse; messy and might want to strain it through a shop towel and funnel coffee-maker style before putting it back after you're done.

Distilled water and WW is the preferred method for running a colder cooling system. The only downside is, corrosion and no freeze protection. Consider that most race cars run distilled water and WW, and they tend to get abused far harder than street cars and generally don't overheat.

So, not really a "temp" fix, unless the car lives outside in freezing temps. I've been running this combo for years and a variety of vehicles.

Is he MAP sensor to which you are referring the sensor above he transmission at the rear of the cylinder head attached to the vacuum pipe whose other end is in the inlet tube to the supercharger?

If so, yes. That can be replaced without front end service mode. I did it a few months ago.

Awesome thanks for that. It never freezes here so I was mainly concerned with component lubrication and corrosion protection.

I'm actually in Japan and can find the right coolant but it's ridiculously expensive because Japan loves to overpay for everything... Even then I have to order from another prefecture and it takes 3-5 days to arrive as a rule. I ordered a gallon from the states last month and luckily had enough left over to make up for the lost fluid.
