Help: Loud bang when driver's window gets to top

Was trying to troubleshoot a loud bang when the driver's window get's nearly to the top.

Bang happens whether the door is opened or closed.

Window alignment looks spot on and the extra up/down for frameless door is working correctly. No problem opening or closing the door.

Took the door panel off today and looked in there with a flashlight for a considerable amount of time while actuating the power window. Can't really pinpoint where the bang is coming from but it seems to be at the top/rear/inside of the door.

Anyone ever come across this? Thx

Check at the inside top of the door where the window regulator cables are routed. There should be two white nylon clips holding those two cables to the door frame. If they're missing, it's likely that your window is hitting the cables.

Thanks! I ordered the kit with the 2 white plastic clips. Hopefully that's it and we can get rid of the loud bang.

Well shoot!

Spent a couple hours fitting the new white plastic clips last night but they did not get rid of the loud bang.

One original clip was definitely cracked off. The other one looked in tact.

Installed the clips but didn't solve the issue. Maybe I didn't have the two cables crossing each other correctly? I fiddled around with them for a long time and I now have 3 broken clips and one good one.

I cannot see what the phenomenon is that causes the loud bang. I've gotten my head in the door as far as possible and used a mirror.

Could it be something else?

Can you post an audio file of the noise? Might help ID the source. Also, check to ensure that the window regulator bolts at the bottom of the door (underneath) are tight and that the two white nylon gears inside the door holding the glass to the regulator are tight. The gears can be accessed with the window down half way, then use a flathead screwdriver and a hammer to tighten or loosen them. If you want to go all out, remove the gears (fiddly), remove the window from the top, then try the window to see if it still makes the noise. Just be careful and don't break your glass.
