Did I put the OCC hoses in the right flow?

Hi,

I wanted to double check that this is the right flow direction. Including a photo, I put the hose from the pcv to the IN fitting and the OUT goes on the grey line. I ask bc I just took my neighbor for a spin bc he was curious about the ride feel and I noticed the radiator fan kicked on and didn’t stop. I reset the ECU after installing and didn’t do any other mods.

Should I bother with the stainless steel wool thingy? Seems to take up a lot of room and not much oil would fill it up. Thanks!

What’s the reason you got a catch can for an R53 anyway? I didn’t think they needed them. Only R56 and up.

update: the radiator went on bc it looks like I snapped my engine coolant temp sensor and it had separated from the prongs when I removed my CAI. I’m still wondering if pcv to IN is the correct way. Seems logical to me.

The reason I got the can is because I’d rather catch it than clean out my IC and the boots periodically. I’ve read that the map sensors can get fouled up over time, but honestly for me it’s more about avoiding disassembly to clean the IC and the boots.

Hose routing is correct.
The steel wool thing isn't really needed, esp if you check and empty the can often enough.
