Went to O’Reillys for a new ground strap and to pick up my ignition switch, and they only had a little slinky one that wasn’t very big and looks like the hole would’ve been too small for the motor Mount hole, can I just use one of the battery cables they sell instead?

Sure. I would think that would work in the meantime - Just to diagnose if nothing else seems worth a try.

My aluminum motor mount ground strap connection broke on my car as well.....I was not going to get another mounting bracket....I took the end of the OE ground strap and removed one of the bolts on the engine behind the dipstick tube and mounted it there

Got home, put a Jack and board under the motor to hold it in place, and reconnected the ground strap to the top of the motor mount(had to drill out the hole on the ground strap to get it to fit over that huge bolt). Tried starting it and nothing. After realizing that’s not the issue, I went and got the ignition switch I ordered from oreillys. Replaced the ignition switch(super easy by the way) and IT STARTED RIGHT UP!!!!

I am so friggin happy right now, finally being able to get this thing started after weeks of messing around with it, felt like it lifted a huge weight off my chest.. I’ve been borrowing cars and getting rides and even bicycling(about 5-10 miles) to work every day, and I am very strapped for cash right now. So it actually starting after all that work makes me feel so good

i just wanted to thank each and every one of you so much for all the help.. it means the world to me, and I am extremely grateful for all the advice and help and recommendations. You guys are the best!!

now I get to enjoy my mini for hopefully a long time☺️😊😊

Well done my friend!!!
i guess changing the ground strap too, couldndn't hurt in the long run. Seems like it may have failed sooner or later(?)
Again - congratulations = success!

Would that cause it to not even turn over? Wouldn’t it still crank if fuel pump is bad?
I've had to replace the fuel pump on two Minis that seemed to be in the exact same state as yours was.
