R50/53 High Mileage Success?
High Mileage Success?
Hi all - I'm new to posting but an original owner of a 2006 MCS that now has 223K miles on it (mostly highway miles). It's been well maintained and so far the engine still sound and feels good. I'm planning to keep the car as long as I can and was curious if anybody has any advice or success stories of other high mileage R53's (e.g. anybody else getting high miles on the original engine?). Thanks to sites like ModMini, RealOEM, Pelican Parts, etc. I can do a lot of maintenance myself.
Thanks for any feedback!

My 2003 MCS is at 189,600-something; still runs great. Mix of highway/city miles.
Ollie had most of his growing pains early on, and once I finally got him mostly sorted, around 2006-ish, he's been great, and very low maintenance overall. Clutch just went 20K ago, and he's in the shop currently for new brake lines and some suspension work, but (outside of the tantrum period) I'm still perfectly comfortable taking our ~150mi roundtrip to Richmond every 6 weeks. I think he's going to be elevated to garage queen/project car status pretty soon, tho.
