2006 GP Milltek Sport Exhaust Clamp Disintegration

Started up the 06 GP (93K) today and immediately heard metallic rattling. Jacked up the car and saw that one of the Milltek exhaust clamps that connects two pipes had its bolt *completely* rusted out.

Bought a replacement 2.5" band clamp at Napa for $11 all in and replaced it in 3 minutes.

Woo hoo.

I wish they would make the bolts stainless. Can stainless not withstand the heat of an exhaust pipe?? I put in that exhaust when I got the car in 2008 or 2009 I think.

Unfortunately things are made these days to break so that you have to buy a replacement and/or pay someone to do it. It's a shameful, wasteful money-focus world we are living in.

I hope one day turning a quick buck is not at the top of most people's priority list.

Ireland Engineering camber paltes - I had the adjustable ones - and they started rusting to crap almost immediately upon installation. I complained and they said something along the lines of "Oh well here in Cali we don't have rust issues like you do in NY". I thought that was so pathetic I didn't even bother arguing with them. Suffice to say they lost a customer for life.

If you are in the Northeast, the chemicals they use in the winter are brutal. I have a UUC on mine, and the connector at the back from the resonator to the muffler has taken a beating.

I had a UUC exhaust that I picked up in person in NJ (I'm in NY) on my 2004 that I rolled at Watkins Glen. That was a loud exhaust. :D The Milltek in comparison is very quiet but I'd say slightly louder than the JCW exhaust (was stock on the GP and on my wife's 06).

I also had brake lines in both cars rust through because of exposure to all the salt and who knows what else.
