205/55/16 Tires on a R53

Hi guys so I got a stock R53 and am shopping for tires for my R83 5 Star wheels. The stock size is 195/55/16 and I see a common size that people run is 205/50/16 but has anyone run 205/55/16? There is a greater selection of tires available for 205/55/16 but they seem that they may be a bit big and there is very few pictures I could find of them on a R53. If any one has any pictures or experience with them I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks

I don't have any images of that size tire on the R83 wheel but here is a comparison of both tires size regarding fitment

As you can see, running the 205/55/16 tire doesn't change much and should work. Some of us here run 215 width tires on 7 inch wide wheels with high offset and we clear the front struts no problem.

Hope this helps.

I went up to 205's from 195's two tire replacements ago and the slight difference in diameter makes my speedometer and odometer readings spot on corresponding to GPS readings. No other issues

I had 205/55-16's on my Clubman for winter duty... I know it's not an R53, but I thought R53 had slightly more tire clearances...

I have 205/55-16s on Raul wheels on my R53 and have no problems. Rides nice and smooth. Also a lot cheaper to purchase.

BTW, I also have a set of 17s for track and spirited driving.

I went with Maxxis Premitra HP5 205/45/16 on 16x7 Japan Racing JR3 (no spacers), but in the end I shouldve gone for 50 or 55 for the "fatty" tires look. Still happy with my current look though
