I found a local powder coater that can redo the chrome, the scary part will be like everyone else and it's getting the old bolts out of the rim. I have to redo the R50 rims first. I'm going to try and fix the curb rash that's really bad on one of the rims. I bought some JB Weld like stuff but it's aluminum. I'm going to try and see if it works to fill in the deep gouges.

The new blower motor was delivered yesterday, I am still waiting for the resistor. It has rained every day for the past week so as soon as we get a dry spell or I can pull it into the carport this weekend I will install it.

It was foggy out this morning and I could really tell the headlights needed some fine tuning. No matter how much I tried, the passenger side wouldn't adjust. Looking inside at the bulb the lens is cracked, they come with a lifetime warranty so I ordered a replacement.

Have you done a search on NAM to see how others have taken apart these wheels? I know a lot of people have done that. Maybe a little heat (MAPP gas torch) might help? But not too much heat as you don’t want to soften the metal of the alloy wheel.

Let me guess - the headlight was aimed too high and you couldn’t aim it down. I’ve had that issue, as have some friends. The Gen 1 headlight bulb holder assemblies have a bad habit of moving without the bulb in them causing the new bulb to not seat correctly. It has been a while since I have done one of these on our R50, but if I recall correctly, once the new bulb is inserted it needs to be pushed with a bit of force to get that holder to re-seat itself.

ECs sent me a link, one guy used a kerosene heater, I might try that. I have to get the R50 rims done first.

The beams were in an x pattern. The drivers was to the right and lighting the ditch, the passengers was the the left and super high. I knew they were not correct but not that bad. The fog this morning pin pointed my very bad adjustments. I have the drivers one in the correct position now and will get the passenger side correct when I get the headlight assembly.

After the worst 4 hours of my life, I got the new blower motor and the new resistor installed. There is still a delay in the fan coming on but it is what it is.

I guess I am going to order a new relay.
The replacement headlight came in today for the passenger side and I got them exchanged. I have the old one ready to ship back.
I was thinking of working on the R50 rims today but it has rained all day long.

Working under the dash is the worst. Glad you got the installation done.

Thanks!
The old motor felt a little crusty when I rotated the blades compared to the new one. I think the new motor does blow a little more air but I may just be fooling myself. I'm going to swap relays from the Cabrio to the Base and see if that fixes it.

The hatch hasn't been better so I have been knocking out a few other projects, mainly the RV. I installed a 50-inch TV with surround sound, installed an electrical heating rod kit to the hot water heater. Installed a new dish antenna on the roof and running HDMI cables to all the TV's. I also have been recovering the leather seats in my white Escalade. I have one more cover to install tonight and the front and second row seats will be done. I also installed a new grille on the black Limo Escalade.

New front seat leather

New second row seat leather

New mesh grille with updated emblem

Looks like I blew the exhaust manifold gasket, I have a new one and will try and get that replaced this weekend. Other than that, she has been outstanding! It is an absolute joy to drive.

It ended up the weld or the flex joint broke. I went ahead and ordered another manifold assembly and it arrived yesterday. Once I get the old manifold out and if it's repairable I'll weld it up and keep it as a spare. While I was waiting on parts for the Hatch, I installed a new AC compressor and belt for the dash air on our motorhome. I just need to vacuum down the system and refill it with Freon. I found the hidden AC system main fuse and it was bad so hopefully this will get the dash AC going again.

It was the flex joint was really broken. The new pipe seems to be built better and I'm glad it doesn't have the resonator. I lowered the subframe down about 8 inches to get the old header pipe out and the new one up there. I have the new one installed but I have not finished putting everything back together. It's still dry under the car other than the power steering hoses seem to be weeping so I ordered 2 new hoses and a set of OEM lower ball joints.

I have a new AC drier and expansion valve for the motorhome and hope that's the last stuff I need to get the dash AC working again. I also have a generator service kit that came in.

The Mini's drivers side window regulator broke literally 2 days after getting the exhaust fixed. The replacement regulator came in and I hurried to install it before the rain came yesterday, I barely made it.

Fixing the dash AC in our motorhome has blown up to a lot more than I was expecting. The heater core had a small leak and dripped down onto the thermostat for the AC which fried the thermostat. New thermostat and heater core on order. The high/ low pressure switch was leaking and inoperative. New drier, expansion valve and pressure switch on order. The drier came apart in the inside and luckily the one way valves stopped it from getting thru the whole system. So other than the evaporator everything else had to be replaced. But the dash AC never worked when I bought the coach so it will be nice to have it working.

How bad was the window regulator install? The right window in my car started acting up just before I stored the car for winter.

It's not super bad. Turning the little star wheels that hold the glass in is a pain. I take the outside moulding off and have a long screwdriver to break them free. Two bolts at the top behind some plastic plugs, 2 on the bottom of the door, 3 screws for the motor.

The dash AC on the motorhome works except for the condenser fan. I dropped the motorhome off at an RV place to replace the front airbags, replace the fan and work on the AUX generator. I installed flat tow brackets on the R52 to pull behind the motorhome.

Base plates installed and lighting adapter.

New Taillights! I also cleaned and waterproofed the top.

I was checking the car over and found this. Houston, we have a problem!

The backs are even worse.
I ordered new struts, bushings and everything needed to make it better than new. I went with the Bilstein B4's, it's going to be the same set up I have on the R50 and I love it.

The upper mount was good a few months ago when I checked them and did the supercharger service and lower control arm bushings. It suddenly developed a bad front end pull in the steering, it was funny because it would pull to the right in the morning and left in the afternoon. I was planning on new struts and stuff this summer but glad I caught it now before I towed it to the mountains or the beach.

I think I am somehow kin to Tyler Hoover on Hoovies Garage, I always seem to pick the most worn out and almost no previous owner maintenance vehicles on the planet. I have to admit the Cabrio was in a lot better condition than the R50 was. I was planning on doing the shocks/struts just not 3 weeks before vacation!

I got a delivery today! Still waiting on the front strut mounts and the rear bushings to be delivered. I took one of the backs apart and there was zero schocking action going on. I could push the rod down by hand very easily.
