True. But they would look awesome with 195-60x15 tires. And for the street the width hardly makes a difference, especially in the R50, which is not exactly a race car. It is the light weight that is noticeable in a good way. The car is noticeably quicker.
I drive like a grandpa anyway! I do drive a little sportier when I drive the S.
The transmission mount arrived today and the release bearing should be here anyday. That way I can at least get the transmission mounted into the car. I need to get off my butt and order the CV axles and the other stuff.
The trucking company picked up the bad transmission today, so it's on it's way back to them.

I’m actually not a fan of that look. I’m also not convinced that the width isn’t noticeable on the street, but I’ve never done a direct comparison with my holies.

Not something I have done either. I would guess it would depend on how hard the car is pushed as to whether a difference in wheel width would make a noticeable driving difference out on the street. I did try the 16” wheels from my S on the R50 and didn’t like the way the added weight felt like dragging a sea anchor under normal driving conditions. This wasn’t a good +1 comparison as those 16” wheels still had the RFTs on them, so no conclusion from that difference.

Reason: Typo

I would expect so. I know people see a measurable difference in lap times on other cars, but I don't know how that would translate to feel. I could regularly get my 175 all seasons to the limit, but the 205s summers are a different story. They're also an apples to oranges comparison, and I'm not sure how 195s would compare to the 175s. I've never tried bigger or heavier wheels. My 15x7s are a bit lighter than the Imolas, but the wider tires add a bit of weight to the total package.
Sorry for cluttering up your thread with bench racing, Chief.

It's all good!
They finally shipped the right starter for the motorhome yesterday. I will be glad to finally get that back together again. My working partner is on vacation this week so I have not had a chance to sit down and order the rest of the stuff yet for the R50 transmission swap. We leave for the beach on Friday, I'm ready for a little of this: https://pwillys.com/beach-cam/
I twisted my knee on Thursday but I drove down Friday afternoon anyway. I wore my knee brace and was a little slower than normal but we all had a good time. I was able to take it off and hobble down to the beach. I did the dolphin swim at Gulf World with my son and he had a blast.
The weather and the water were perfect! The oysters were fresh and super yummy, and so were the Margaritas!
I received the new release bearing and the last CV axle seal over the weekend, I also ordered the new shifter and cables. I am going to order the CV axles and the slave cylinder stuff tonight.
It was a fun weekend but I could have stayed a lot longer. Next summer we plan on being there for at least a week with our motorhome and Mini Cabrio in tow.
I received in the black wheel bolts so I can mount the rims on when I get done with the trans swap.
I have the new output seals and the release bearing installed. I need to put the lineup dowels off the old transmission and put them on the Getrag.
I'm still waiting on the shifter, the slave cylinder and the pipe.
The new CV axles are supposed to be delivered today.
If I ordered the correct axles I will try and at least get the gearbox installed, the starter in and axles installed this weekend.
My knee is still giving me a fit so I am a little slower than normal right now.
I have something simular I got off the Matco tool truck. At work once I get the truck up on the lift I am golden.
No work today on home stuff as it started raining as soon as I pulled up to the house. Not really diappointed either.
We were able to switch heads on the motorhome starters so now I am going to able to get that installed this weekend. On the new starter the holes where the bolts go thru were too big.
I have to pull some stuff out of the trunk of the in-laws SRX to get down to the hyd pump for the rear hatch, It just clicks now and has no opening or closing action, I have a new pump coming.
I have a bunch of wrenching I am going to do this weekend.
I am going to finish the service on the mom in-laws Cadaillac SRX and pull out the inoperative rear hatch hydraulic motor. A new pump is on the way.
I also have a new starter to install on our diesel pusher motorhome. Thats not going to be any fun. I am also going to change the engie oil and filter because you have to remove the oil filter to install the starter.
I am going to to check and see if the axles I bought fit the Getrag transmission, that way I know if I need to return them. Either way I am going to pull out the old shifter assembly and then mount the transmission to the engine. Then reinstall the subframe. I also have new black wheel bolts to mount the R98 rims, I can at least mount the 2 rear ones for now. I also ordered 2 new center stickers because they were missing on the black rims I bought.
If I can get all of this done I will consider it a huge win.
Man that's a lot of "toys"= work load, to take of. Quite a list!
Everyone should be grateful that there is someone in the family that is adept in taking care of such matters.
I'm also sorry to hear about your knees. I also understand how frustrating and debilitating it is to feel the limitations; when so much needs to be done
' following your progress on the trans swap.
Good luck and take care.
Removed the intake on the SRX and installed the new plugs, a new air filter, cleaned the throttle body and the air flow sensor. I also installed a new cabin filter; it was pretty old and dirty. I have the old hydralic pump out and the new one should be here on Wednesday.
My wife made me breakfast so now I am out to mess with the R50.
I pulled the new axles out of the box and they are a perfect fit for that transmission!! I do have to say I was a little worried.
I removed the old CV axles and the shifter mech. Then the real fun began.
I got the transmission installed, I cussed like a sailor for about an hour and a half trying to get the dang thing lined up and mounted.
I also got the new CV axles installed. I got the subframe back in and everything bolted back on. I did run into a few small problems. The little dust shield for the flywheel is different. The big thing is the mount that hooks to the car for the transmission mount will not work and I need to order the correct one. I found out my coolant cap has a real small leak, I knew I had a leak but could never find it and it never dripped to the ground. I also found where my exhaust was hitting under the car.
The new slave cylinder was delivered today and new wiper blades for the Cabrio. A good day of progress on the R50 and I am beat.
