I am looking to replace the noisy transmission in my 04 S this weekend with a unit from a facelift model and I have been reading that I will need coding to get the cruise control to work afterwards. Can anyone confirm that is possible and who would be able to do it.

If a manual, Shouldn’t have any affect on cruise control. Your speedometer may be different speed as you are going because of the gearing difference but check against gps.

No, Cruise control will not work with different gear ratio, because Cruise control use so called "Minimum n_vs_ratio_fil to detect "1 gear to 6 gear. and also "Maximum n_vs_ratio_fil to detect" 1 gear to 6 gear.If values calculated using car speed and engine speed don't match, cruise contro wil not be activ.
Is used also map name "Gear ratio for manual box".
All of this maps are located inside ECU software.

I know this is an older thread but it is the closest to a possible answer I've come across since swapping a 6spd into my R50. Are these values modifiable in such that cruise control can be fixed so that it works in my R50 again?

Yes, need a tool to be able to read ECU flash file.I can do the job for you.Also must recode few modules as DSC-or ASC - and ECU for 6 speed gearbox.I made this on more than 8 cars.If need help contact me in pm

I have an R50 with a 6speed gearbox and retrofited the cruisecontrol. After coding the cruisecontrol i had no cruisecontrol in 6th gear. After a lot of searching i found this tread.
So i send adriancl an pm last week. He did the job for me right away!! Great service!!

Hey there. My ‘02 R53 had a trans swap during it’s life and wasn’t recoded for cruise control. Is adriancl still willing to help? If so, what’s the process?

but you still need an laptop with software and hardware..

but if you have swap it with the same trans its just coding.

i had an R50 with normaly an 5gear trans.. so he rewrite the ecu for an 6gear trans ratio.
because i swaped it to an R53 trans
