On Saturday, July 10th, I'll be (hopefully) starting the ~2,600 mile journey from New Mexico to New York with my new R53!
I'll be flying down so I think I'm going to check a bag full of supplies and stuff.

What tools/parts should I bring in preparation for this almost cross country road trip? So far, on the list is a new belt+tool, low speed fan resistor, 5 quarts of oil, 2 gallons of coolant, fire extinguisher, duct tape, zipties, penetrating oil, superglue and most of my tools (wrenches, sockets, pliers, screwdrivers, etc).

What else should I make sure I have before leaving?

Congrats - that R53 must be very special to warrant the flight and return drive! We'll need pictures - or it didn't happen!

Depending on condition of tires and whether (or not) runflats, I'd suggest a small 12V air compressor along with a separate pressure gauge and string plug kit. I like Viar compressors (with provided carry bag). One of suitable output and price point could be ordered from Amazon and shipped to your pickup point in advance of arrival.

Thank you! It really is, 6spd '06 with 60k on the clock! As I'm from NY, all of the vehicles up here are rusted to dust. Can't wait to pick up a rust free R53 as my daily.
With regards to the compressor/plug kit. I do have plugs on the list but I didnt even think about a compressor (duh) Will look into that brand, thank you!

I would think that you can get oil and coolant when you get there.
the oil filter cap takes a big socket if you are planning on changing it yourself. I would just go to a quick change place.
PS oil is pentosin 11S and can be hard to find but there are substitutes.
what kind of shape is this car in? Must be good to go all that way.

bring a spark plug or 4
obdII plug adapter and Torque app on your phone.

Thanks guys. Yeah, this car seems pretty mint, ticks every single box of a half decade search. 6spd '06 Pepper White with 60k miles. Those are 60k RUST FREE miles. I miss being in an R53 so much and I can't wait to see this one. I'm trying to prepare for the worst though, both physically and mentally. This won't be the first cross country road trip with my girl, so we're excited to do it again. Now in my dream daily.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but the car is an unknown, and 2600 miles is a long drive (inside a car). Sorry - Modest Mouse reference that I couldn't resist.

My point here is that unless you have the full maint history (and even if you did), something like a MAP sensor could go in the middle of the Sonoran Desert in the middle of nowhere. That would be an expensive tow. And a part you won't have on hand and can't find locally (wherever you get towed to, eventually). Don't get me wrong, the 1.6 is a robust engine, but it's aging and parts may be past their service lifetime, and there is randomness and that damned Murphy.

Truck and trailer - that's my suggestion on what to bring.

That sounds like a fun trip. When I bought my Z06, I flew in to Orlando and drove it all the way to NorCal. It was a great trip with a lot of great memories.

That sounds like a good go bag, but I agree with the previous response to swing by an oil change place to do it. That way you can take a look underneath and not have to carry all the oil/filter.

BTW, I'd grab a new fan belt as well to carry with you. Don't forget your tool.

Don't forget a 10mm socket and wrench!

The oil filter requires a 36mm socket. Also, take a set of Torx heads and maybe a C-clip spreader.

Just carry several credit cards. Then you will be fine.
