Stay away from M7 products!

Hello all, wanted to share my terrible m7 pulley experience. It was the 16% pulley. Here’s my story

Within one month of the pulley install, 1 of the screws came lose causing the belt to warp.

No problem, maybe my mini specialist didn’t tighten it. Go back to him, we take the belt off, inspect all the other pullies, bearings and tensioner..everything checks out great.

Reinstall the pulley, everything is aligned, new belt and all.

Immediately after starting the car, the pulley backs out 1/4 of an inch, causing the belt to slip. This is what happened to me overtime. Pulley was slowly backing away and eventually my belt was chewed up and I have no boost.

This pulley only lasted me one month. I am not impressed.

I am not the only one who has had this experience with m7.

I now need to get a new pulley, and I am going with the craven speed 15% .

My love

… photo speaks for itself

My brand new belt

First, there is WAY more than just a pulley made by M7...I seriously doubt that ALL of their products are bad, questionable...yah think ?

Second, I'm betting that the M7 pulleys are on a LOT more cars than just yours...yah think ?

Saying that M7 as a "company" is a horrible, bad, no nothing place to buy from...is rather one sided, maye ?

ANYPLACE that makes parts, items, cars, boats, motorcycles, etc., etc., has a bad part or two in the thousands of parts that they sell.
I'll bet that YOU aren't perfect either, afterall, you, your super mechanic, whomever, didn't properly tighten things in the FIRST place...as YOU admit.

So who exactly is to blame here ? Like MAYBE the initial...NOT properly tightening the pulley in the FIRST place , just MAY have damaged the pulley in a way that it should have been replaced because of that..?
So...who REALLY is to blame here ?

Question - Did you contact the shop where you bought the pulley from about the problem ? Did you contact M7 about your pulley problem ?

And NO, I have no affiliation with M7, but I have seen people badmouth well-meaning folks, companies that weren't even given a chance to help out or maybe to correct the problem, like your situation, that by your admittance, you or your A1 mechanic MAY have caused in the first place. Really sad state of affairs.

Slow down a bit. look at what happened, and what actually caused your problem. Maybe, just MAYBE...give M7 a call, explain the problem, and see what THEY have to say.

Mike

The people with negative reviews/experiences will generally be the ones who voice their opinion on the interwebz. The (probably) larger group with positive experiences are usually quite invisible

I have to agree with OCR. Please reach out to a company before slagging them when you have a part failure like the one you're describing. I realize it's a pain when you install a part and it doesn't work as intended but no company has a 100% track record. Bad parts make it through manufacturing and quality control once in a while.

100% installer error.

Pull the pulley, check the shaft, check the other pulleys, clean everything, re-install using serviceable lock-tite,

Sounds like your mechanic didn't install it right. Those same pulleys are on all kinds of cars, and never have any issue. To say the entire company is bad just because you had a problem with a pulley (most likely an install issue) is pretty childish.

What did your mechanic torque the bolts to? And did he use any blue locktite?
