2003, R53 Clutch Switch Bypass and Cruise Control

My 2003 R53 has the clutch switch bypassed by a crude twist of the wires at the switch. I believe this halfbaked mod is causing my cruise control to blink twice and not maintain speed. My other option after fixing this if the CC still doesn't work is to install the diode fix. I have read about installing a diode, but I don't know more than that. Where do you put the diode? What value is the diode? I tried to do a search and all results mentioned the diode but not the mechanics of installing it.

If anyone is parting out their manual r53 I sure would appreciate the clutch switch and about a foot of the wiring so I could repair my switch. Thanks for anyone's help.

I don't have a new switch for you, but do you happen to know how the bypass is wired up? It would really help me troubleshoot a problem I'm having.
