Back hatch won’t open after replacing alternator

The back hatch is not working on my 06 R53 after replacement alternator. How can I get it to open again ???

There is a manual pull under the seat. I tied a small black cord to it and will use that if I need to open it, although the hatch switch still works fine.

+1 on the manual release cable. You might need to have someone pull the hatch open at the same time as sometimes the hatch doesn't pop far enough to clear the latch. On early R53's without the manual release and a dead or no battery, power can be hooked up to the jumper port in the engine compartment.
