The part numbers for the primered side skirts are:
(left) 51 71 0 021 932
(right) 51 71 0 021 933

Don't forget the grille sill skirts:
(left) 51 71 0 140 257
(right) 51 71 0 140 258

BTW, the side skirts retail for $233/side and the the grills $4.20/peice

The sill skirts are listed in the 2005 You-ification Workbook (aka Accessories Guide) with a page listed (presumably with a picture). However, there really isn't anything shown there. But there is a handy quiz comparing a Bulldog to a Mini.

maybe they're the little black rubbery bits that go on to the skirts near the wheel wells? unfortunately there wasn't an explanation or picture in the accessory book.

I think he means the little metal mesh grills in the back portion of the skirts... they look like little air intakes.

Side skirts different on convertible?

Why is there a separate part number for the **Convertible** side skirts?

I don't want to be a know-it-all but I am in need of purchasing the side skirts for my 2006 cabrio. I've found that in the 2006 MINI accessories guide, that the convertible side skirt part numbers are:

(left) 51 71 0 392 891
(right) 51 71 0 392 892

The parts guy that I am talking to, who is a really nice guy, says that the side skirts are 'the same thing' and that BMW 'just changed the part number' and the 'convertible part numbers replaced the old numbers'. But I'm not buying that cuz MINI still lists both sets of numbers in the accessory guide.

The parts guy says that since they are 'the same thing' and since they have stock on the old part number, that if they do not have stock on the new part number, that I should not be surprised if they should ship me the old part number to get rid of it.

Since I am going to be painting these things before I can do a detailed look over of the old and new, I'm very leery of the fact that there is a difference and that I maybe should be demanding the correct part number. Sometimes the difference is as minor as an additional hole in a new part number that the installer could add if they got an 'old' part number but then again, because the 2006 accessories guide lists both part numbers, I am very concerned. Should I not be so ****? :impatient
