Something Fishy on These R90s on Ebay

Why are 2 bidders outbidding their own bid on these R90s? One has a history of 0 and the other has only 1.

I don't think when your bid gets bumped up to a higher bid by automatic bidding it doesn't show the other bidder. I.E. If I set my max bid at 500, I hve them for 450, you bid 455 and it just bumps my bid to 460, i don't think your 455 bid will show.

Its called a proxy bid, you bid the maximum you plan on bidding but it only shows up the next increment above the highest bidder until somebody else bids and if theirs is not higher than your maximum ebay will automatically bump you up one notch above thei bid up to your maximum. So all those bids in a row was somebody that was just trying to barely beat that persons bid but they were not bidding higher than gwayl068's highest bid

Simple. Knowing that even a $500 bid is a steal for these rims, one bidder bids $500. The other guy gets a reply that he has been outbid every time he submits a bid for under $500, hence he bids again.

I'm mfonseca13 and if you notice I'm the last bidder with actual feedback. Strange to say the lease. The wheels are local to me and if I could have scored them for 400-500 I was going to buy them, otherwise they aren't that great of deal. Most sets with tires are in the 600-1000 range so these at more then 500 aren't a deal at all. Seems like this guy is having friends bump his auction price up, he told me off ebay he watned 675 for the wheels which is insane

I don't think there's any shill bidding going on. Gwaylo placed a bid of $310 on 12-22. Master.... placed a bid of just under $500 on 12-24. Gwaylo noticided s/he had been outbid on 12-25 and kept bidding until s/he outbid Master... Master then raised his/her bid to $510 and is now the top bidder.

If Master... had used auctionsnipe.com, Gwaylo would not have known someone was ready to bid up to $500, until after the bidding ended. Auctionsnipe will place a bid for you, at a price you determine, a few minutes or seconds before the end of an auction. You might still be outbid by someone who placed a higher initial bid, but at least you won't be showing your hand. If you're willing to pay more than someone else, and you've reflected this in you bid price, you win the auction.

That's good to know because I always wondered how people could outbide others at the last minute in an organized manner.

You're welcome. There is a fee to use autionsniper that's based on the amount of the winning bid. It's usually 1% of the winning bid (minimum of .25) and it tops out at $5.00, but you only pay the fee if you win. The first two or three snipes are free. And if you try it out, please mention that minikittycar referred you, and I'll get a few free snipes!

My first snipe attempt would have brought me an old, wood, vintage teardrop trailer but I somehow bungled the bid and it didn't register. Good thing. In the cold clear light of morning I realized that despite the allure of those very cute old trailers (which I had been planning to tow with the MINI) I really don't like camping all that much....

Got you covered! I haven't bought anything recently but e-bay seems to be the first place I check these days so I know I'll be using it soon.
