Fuel door frozen shut?

Hello,

New mini owner in Canada here (04 MC)...first winter blast over the last few days here has been fun. Has anyone had a problem with the gas cap door freezing closed? The toggle on the dash didn't seem to work on that door only. Driver/passenger doors seemed fine. Once it warmed up in garage it was ok. Is there a manual override or cable release for that door in the event that fuelling up is an emergency? Sucked to be the people behind me at the garage !!

PS - Anyone concerned about how these cars handle in the snow should not be worried one bit. If you take your time and use some common sense this car is a hoot! It just ate up the snow here...

Glad to hear you are having fun in the snow. This is my second winter, and the little guy performs like a champ
There is a release for the fuel door,it is in the cubby in the boot of the car,on the drivers side.It is kind of a white/yellow looking thing, pull it back, but it does take some effort to do it.You may want to bring this up with the dealer,as the cable may not be sealed and lubed properly.
I have never had this problem, but if you do a search on NAM you may find more info.

fuel door..

question regarding fueling....

it is about 20 degrees here in TX....

I had to fill up this am , all I could hear was and odd whistle from the fuel opening...
It would not let me fule up like normal... i had to just barely hold the pump handle and let the fule trickle in.....

what is up with that??? It is to cold for that ....

Thats weirdSounds more like a problem with the gas pump than a MINI issue.Could be the pumps down your way are not designed for cold temps.

thought of that, however it was like someone was twirling a plastic tube in the air.. you know the sound that makes ????
that is what was coming form the fuel opening?

it's full now and the temp will change soon enough...
