Multi part cooling question...looking for some advice and help please. Thank you in advance.

#1 Cooling question...is there any way the picture on the left (the set up when. bought the car) would cool better than the set up on the right (the set up I have after tracking down the two missing pieces show with the yellow arrows)? It ran hotter with the new set up, but it was also a bit hotter outside so I am unsure of the actual benefit of the new additions.



#2 Cooling question...can I increase the cold/ cool airflow to the airbox/ filter by adding an additional "air flow tube" (for lack of a better term) from the front bumper (there is an open hole) or from the open portion of the grill to the protruding portion of the part shown below in pic #2? I would need to cut the end off to open it up and then run the tubing/ clamps etc. Does this makes sense, is the benefit what I expect (more cool air, more power) and is there any negative effect I am missing?
