After 6 months work I have been driving the $550 Bargain Mini since Saturday and have about 250 miles so far. Too much fun, sounds terrific and hasn't missed a beat.
Night before last the air bag light came on, out of the blue. checked the seat connections, didn't find anything.
I have the Schawaben scan tool and founds codes for the airbag. Started doing research and found this discussion;
I'm pretty sure the Schwaben is supposed to be able to clear them, but I don't think it will if you have an actual fault that hasn't been fixed.
Thanks Deep,
I did check the connection under the seat so I guess the next thing is to take the steering wheel off and check the connections there?
Anything else to check for an actual problem?
I just read so many posts where the light showed up out of the blue with no actual issue. I put my dog in the passenger side, then saw the light but the codes say "drivers side".
I was thinking to try to clear the light and see if it comes back.
Carwash,
And yes, I do have a sunroof. Does that affect anything with the airbag light? Please tell me it doesn't, even Mini can't be that weird...
Yes it will do it, i have done it. If you have a fault or it has trouble with communication to the module due to a problem with the module or a low due to a dead battery or weak connection to the ecu. Also a connection or wire between the airbag and system might be damaged. Sometimes low voltage to units can make this happen.

I had a second gen but yes....I had an air bag light because some part of the sunroof system chaffed a wire up above the passenger side. Mine was not very old (maybe a year) and luckily it was under warranty. I probably never would have found it.
