Tail lights

Hello!

Could someone tell me if the r53 (2006) and r56 (2007) tail lights are the same?

I’m searching for a set of Black Union Jack tail lights for my r53.

Thank you!

welllll, I'd disagree .....

In 'the day' there were a bunch of 'alternate' tail lights. But LED was not here yet...+The 'UJ' thing is just the new thing now . . .

BUT who's going to make some thing NEW for a car that's been out of production since 2007?

It does happen ... I see a company offering LED tail light replacements for my classic Mini,,, but I'm not sure a GEN1 MINI has reached this status

I seem to remember seeing a vinyl cover for a GEN1 tail light that gave the 'UJ' effect . . .

Are those the eBay ones ? I have been looking at those also as my stocks have flaking chrome in one and those do look nice. Not too flashy at all.

Yes, I got these off eBay shortly after I got the car a few years ago. The upper light in each assembly is wired in as another brake light

There are a number of aftermarket tail lights out there for the R53, eBay has a number of items, even complete LED assemblies that are plug-n-play.....but I have never seen anything like the Union Jack lights the original poster was asking about

These LED units that were in my '06 R52 JCW car were plug & play....I pulled these out and sold them...I wanted the stock '06 lights in there
On my '04 R53 silver car that is posted above with the eBay lights, I just put LED bulbs in there for everything...I had to wire a resistor in for the turn signals, which was really easy
