Camshaft sensor - How to decide $$$
Just back from my mechanic to dx two lights on dash and replace temp sensor. The SES and DSC light would be on 98% of the time for 5 weeks now. Arriving at the shop, of course I turned the engine off before the mechanic could get to it. Wouldn't you know it neither of the lights would come on for the mechanic. After he replaced the temp sensor he took the car out for a test run to see if the warning lights would come on. NOPE. Drove the car home and no warning lights.
Anyway my question is, I will replace the cam sensor, and looking on the net, the prices vary from $17 - $61. On Pelic they run as high as $93.
How do you decide?

I would buy one from a reputable brand. It isn't always the most expensive one that is the best, but no name stuff from some fly by night company in China is almost always a bad bet. This is especially true for something that can leave you stranded and paying for a tow. Some good companies would be Bosch, Delphi, Standard, Lucas (OK...maybe not Lucas...LOL), Beck Arnley, etc. The only times I would use the super cheap brand is if the car is almost dead and you are just trying to push it a little longer before you replace it. Either that, or if it is something not critical to the car performing it's role as a vehicle, like an A/C compressor, window track, etc.
