What happened?
Just wondering... What happened to all the friendly MINI drivers out there.
I got Sparky (PS/MCS) in April of 2003 after a wait of 6 long months. I remember being excited to finally take delivery of him on that long awaited evening. I couldn't get out of work soon enough, and I had the stupidest smile on my face all day. And I still have that stupid smile on my face everytime I take him out for a drive (everyday), Just like it was the first time.
I see Drivers in MINI out now and it seems a though no one is happy. I wave or give a thumbs up and nothing.
Has the personality of the MINI driver chaged or is it just me?

I got mine at the same time as you. I too have noticed that many drivers aren't as congenial. I think it is just the fact that wait lists have disapeared in most places (right?) So, the people who are not enthusiasts and were just car shopping just bought something else instead of waiting. These people now can buy one with no wait and to these people a car is just transportion
hence the dull look.
I will also add that I don't notice any heads turning and pointing "at that cute little car" anymore. The MINI is becoming commonplace.
I will say the thing that still happens and is the only way to determine whether you have a sweet ride is when you drive by children who will always take notice, get their friends attention and point.

The demise of the friendly wave has been lamented for a few months now.
Assuming I can make eye-contact with the other driver, I usually get a wave back. Lots of oblivious Mini drivers out there now. My guess is they traded in their New Beetles and moved on to the next cute thing, not realizing that driving a Mini brings with it a great responsibility to be more than just another anonymous car and driver.
Keep waving, honking, thumbs-upping anyway, it certainly made my day once:

You are noticing the P.H.D. (pre-holiday-daze) Drivers are just to focused on the busy holiday season to be happy. It is the job of all A.M.D.'s (aware MINI drivers), to assist others to snap out of that daze! So continue to wave, honk and flash your lights... the future of our nation depends on it!!!
