On another note, keep calling my MCS cute. It looks really cute from behind!
I think the "chick car" moniker comes from men that are not comfortable enough with their own sexuality as to buy a car they really want but are afraid what people might say. These are usually the ones driving Hummers and cigarette boats (at least in my neck of the woods). If i were a woman and a guy brought up the subject of "chick cars", i'd first remind him how vulnerable he is "down there" with a swift kick, then i'd go key his Hummer!

Or as the slogan goes, "I drive a MINI - what are you compensating for?"
[QUOTE=MINIclo]This topic comes up on NAM about every second month or so, and has for the past two years.
yeah and it's still boring and stupid
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Chicks are too little to drive cars. Their lil feet can't reach the pedals and their lil chick wings can't reach the gear shift.

Ok some of you may disagree, but in my opinion I'm not cute, and I do drive a cute car. Hey makes my college life ALOT easier, you know why? A lonely guy like me needs some lovin'!
But anyways, clo said it better than anyone else I think.
When i told my friends last year that i was getting a cooper s, they all called it "gay" and a fagmobile, even my bio teacher said, "why would any guy want that car?" .....i refuted their arguments with the history behind the mini and boasted that it has a faster slalom time than a Porsche GT2, and i kept pleading "noo its supercharged!" but i dont think they understood....i didnt care. I knew that it was a drivers car and when it finnaly came in DS/W everyone shut up. Almost everytime i drive a few of my guy friends to luch or to a party, they all say how cool it is, one of my friends wont stop telling me his plan to "steal Edward Norton's gold". Even the starting QB for our the footbal team wants one now. The only thign that people who think its a chick car need to do is drive one, then thell get over it.
However, i do consider the standard cooper convertible to be a "feminine" car, but any S is not a chick car due to the manual transmission and supercharger. Although everytime a girl talks about my car its always "oh your car is cute"
Also, the miata was shafted because a lightweight front engine rwd car is clearly a budget sportscar, despite the public consensus that it is a chick car.

Egads. What a lot of fuss about nothing.
Of course it's a chick car!
Any woman who owns one knows its a real guy magnet. The ultimate fashion accessory, as it were. Turns out there are lots of guys who like great pickup and handling etc. combined with smart, understated packaging. Who knew?
But if someone wants to call it a guy car, well, it's no skin off my teeth!

I find that my MCS is a PEOPLE magnet! Folks from every demographic/gender/age group love Wanda and ask about her STILL...even though I live in Los Angeles and there are SO many MINIs there, now!
I've even noticed dogs stop in their tracks and stare/smile at Wanda! Woof!

As said by the few of us who have been here reading threads a long time now, this comes up whenever someone writes an article or has some reason to stir things up. I don’t care what they think or what their opinion is about the MINI. My life and taste is not based on what others say or think. I bought my MCS to satisfy myself and the rest be damned.
As much as I don't care what people think about my car and as much as I really don't care what a journalist thinks about my car, I think it's still great fun when threads like this come up now and again. I mean, we all know where we stand on the issue, right? Its just a blast to bash the journalist and people with narrow-minded, half-baked opinions, while at the same time telling our brand new crop of "gender-reaction stories!" It's nice to "stir the pot" now and again, imo. Besides, our newer members deserve a chance to express their righteous indignation over a MINI-dis.
Now will someone please start another thread with a pic of the MINI with the boobies on the bonnet?
(JUST KIDDING!!!!!)

I don’t care what other people think and they are entitled to their opinions. I cannot imagine myself driving a macho jacked-up SUV or Pickup. I have stereotype opinions of those people as much as they may have opinions of me. As one of my friends likes to say, "I'm not gay - my boyfriend is!"

If my head doesn't explode from thinking about colors and options I hope to get an MCS in the spring... so I guess I have to get my 'one liner' figured out in advance to the question "eeeewwww... why did you buy a MINI?"
The retort "because I already own a boat" comes to mind.
Seriously, I've had fast cars, slow cars, boring cars, trucks, motorcycles, skateboards and I learned that I most enjoy being connected to the driving experience, nimbleness, and an open air feeling. The feeling of driving a boat anchor is not appealing to me.
The MINI has a premium feel to it, has enough power and manueverability to be a real joy, has lots of windows and a huge sunroof, is efficient when serving two people and their 'stuff' and it's fun to just stare at let alone drive it. The MINI is a 'polarizing' vehicle. If you don't 'get' it, it's not the car for you. If it's a chick car in the eyes of some... so be it, I'm old enough to have given up on pleasing everybody... there is a car for everyone. I only have to chose one for me.
My aka is Solarmax_Racing... the Solarmax is for the joy of being alive and in the sun for a while longer. Banish the forces of dark and grey skies. Let the sun shine in.

and for those who think its a chic car...when I pulled up to my friends work the other day...her friend saw me and said, "wow, that car is a panty droper!"
I'll take that!
