R50 Rear Spoiler - Seeking Info
Can someone school me on the R50 rear spoiler option?
Was especially wondering if it was somewhat rare Stateside?
I've been looking for one but can only find them in the UK.
I haven't come across one in a junkyard here in the States.
This is what I'm talking about:
It is quite common in the UK because they came with the "chili pack" trim level, but I'm unsure about how many people checked the option box for one here in the USA.
I'll finally get around to mounting an Orranje G-wing soon and've noticed that many UK and Euro guys mount them with the R50 spoilers which saves the trouble of having the holes filled in and repainted after stock spoiler removal, it also looks pretty cool methinks...

Thanks for the info Rex!
I found the part number which is 51-71-0-021-452 and it's still available from dealers:
Not a bad price but then I'd have to get it painted as it's primer only.
Your info gives me hope that I may get lucky and find one in a boneyard, but if not any time soon I'll just get a used jet black one from the UK as even with postal charges it'd be cheaper.

Well,
I've held off sourcing one of these from the UK due to high shipping cost.
There's currently one on eBay for cheap but it's white (I'd much prefer jet black so I can just use it immediately and not have to get it painted) and the seller hasn't responded to my inquiry for a photo of the underside and if the mounting bolts are intact (I've seen some of these where the mounting bolts are missing).
However,
I always browse the boneyards located near where I'll be travelling for work and just yesterday a fresh car popped up and it has this spoiler!
Hopefully it'll still be on there when I go next week.

Alternative R50 Spoiler
I had an idea about getting the small small spoiler for the r50 hatch for when you get the G-Wing. I have an 04 MCS and I wrapped the whole car. The top is wrapped in white carbon fiber and I also wrapped the spoiler base in
white carbon fiber. Instead of purchasing the cover stickers for the holes of the spoiler/purchasing the hatch spoiler, you can just wrap the spoiler base the color of your car to cover the holes. It leaves a clean and nice finish for the spoiler base instead of paying 5-10 dollars for the stickers and it does not look clean/paying 130 for the spoiler hatch.

I see it's an old thread...
@Oldboy Speedwell - It's too bad I wasn't combing NAM to have come across your thread back then. Believe it or not - those spoilers were common on the R50s that I found when roaming the salvage yards in the SE metro ATL.
Salvage yard, price listed for a spoiler @$35. Minis are far and few these days at my local Pull-A-Part.

I have this spoiler if anybody wants it but it has 2x small holes that need to be filled ontop of it. I'd used the spoiler awhile back as a base to mount a different/larger spoiler onto as that stock spoiler made a almost perfect flat mounting point. Or if you just like the clean look..
heres a few pics of back when i had it on my car awhile back.
Lol , wow I transformed this car...here's it now btw ..
