Service mode

First I want to say modMINI has been my go2 source for maintenance since I bought the R53. Really helped with the learning curve of getting to know my MINI and if he’s on this forum I’d like to thank him for all the amazing videos. I was watching his service mode video and he mentions threading in some long bolts to slide the radiator housing forward, but he say what size they are. Could anyone tell me what size bolts I should purchase so I have them readily available for this? Thanks in advance.

No idea, but you can find bolt sizes at realoem.com by the parts diagrams.

I think most people use M8x100.

M8x100mm is available at Lowe's also if you have one near you. I will tell you that it's far easier just to remove the crash barrier, cooling system, et al, if you're doing serious work to components on the front of the motor, i.e., A/C compressor, alternator, supercharger, water pump, etc. You'll appreciate the access once you have the car in FESM.

Yes, I’m going to remove it, but I figured it would be easier to slide the radiator housing forward to gain access to the lower radiator hose for drainaging coolant.

I use M8 x 1.25 x 120's. I got em at lowes with some washers for a few bucks. Longer would be better if you can find longer, but 120 was long enough for me.
