Auto Headlight question?

I have noticed that my headlights are on quite often during the day and was wondering if it's because they are very sensitive or if something is wrong? It seems they go off only when I'm driving into the sun.

I think that they are overly sensitive. Make sure that the sensors on the rear-view mirror, front and back are free of obstructions and that the sensor for your rain sensing wipers is also clean. I think that the auto headlights work off all those sensors and perhaps that strange button/light thing on the center top of the dashboard that I haven't a clue to what is for. I never use that function on my 2005 S even though it is there.

It's the solar sensor for the automatic climate control.

Well it seems that my rain sensing wipers do not work.. They cycle in the sensing position but nothing else however there is a bubble or air space where the sensor attaches to the windshield so I wonder if that could be affecting the headlights and wipers??

The rain sensing wipers on my ‘05 need to be ”reset” every time the car is started by turning the wiper switch to the off position, then back to auto, or make sure you turn the wipers off when you’re done driving the car.

If you start the car with them left in auto from the last drive they don’t wipe at all. Not sure why, but they can’t just be left in the auto position like the headlights.

I have had problems with the aftermarket windshields with the sensor when the windshield is replaced. I always tell windshield repair people to bring two because I will reject the repair and not pay if it doesn't work. I also tell them to bring trim parts as well because if they break the tabs I also reject the repair.

The rain sensing system in my '04 R53 & '06 R52 JCW both act the same way......I thought it was a bad module at first......but that's how they work
