How many trips back to the Dealer?

Six including an oil change. 9500 miles. 4/03 delivery. 03 MCS. My dealer picks up and delivers the car, and we have an "extra", so it's been painless, and I love the car more now than when I first got it.
But if it were my only car...

Glove box adjust, glove box latch replace, hatch adjust, rear seat back adjust, airbag lights, sunroof leak (bad!), emissions recall....
What's your experience?

regards,
Red

Did you try adjusting that stuff yourself? I usually fix my own rattles because it's more of a paint than it is worth to take it to the dealer all by itself.

I took my car back 5 times... to get my English owners manual (original
was in Spanish), buy wheel locks, winter floormats, front plate holder that
I never used, and oil change. So many trips to the dealer in 1 year.

Failed right rear brake caliper (five days while part took forver to get there)
Fixed trunk rattle, but not seatbelt rattle (twice)

3 times for the rear hatch rattle
2 times near the driver seat belt rattle
2 times for the broken latch on the rear hatch
5 coolant tanks
2 leaking seals on the brake cap
2 clutch (under warranty) there was a bearing missing

just yesterday, the car wash behind the dealership thought i had a brand new car, so they begun to tear off my racing stripes on the rear and the front of my car. I was so , just only 2 weeks old. So, now i have to go back in next week to get it fixed.

Twice, 7,343 had to replace the sunroof gasket it was leaking on the drivers side. They didn't put in right.

I agree. And I have. But while it was there for the other stuff, I let them have at the rattles.
Same with the gas cap. They replaced it during the emissions recall(s).

On our MINI...

2 trips to replace right tail lamp that water was leaking into, and replace fuzzy window trim on passenger side that would partially roll down with the window. First trip to show the problem, second trip to have the work done after the parts were ordered and received. During first visit, also had AUX IN jack installed. On second trip, also had daytime running lights programmed in.

Several visits to buy coffee mugs, hats, etc. and just to say hi and look at the '05's...

I was under the impression that we had no choice. No update, no warantee. Is that wrong?

My 05's problems follow Buzzy's fairly closely:

2xFor clutch pedal rattle(replaced entire assembly)
2xFor blown front HK(lower) speakers. Driver's and passenger's blew within a week of each other(no I don't turn it up much at all)
1xFor a dealer induced interior door scratch (still needs to be fixed)

Sill has problems though:
- lower driver's dash rattles at certain RPMs

We'll see what happens.

Peter

I am not sure about the warranty, but once they get their hands on the car for any sort of service they are going to update it.

My drivability is just fine after the emissions recall reflash. (03 MCS)

Red

Ordered on 01/04 and I did make a trip to dealer pretty much every week just to test drive the car before I get mine...more than 12 times that I did test drives (by myself) before I got mine...and I have been visiting the dealer very often just to hang out..check out stuff. My MINI dealer is between my work and my house, so if i'm don't really have anything much to do I stop by. Actually I went today too! Just to get the new 2005 You-Ification Catalog, because my picture was on there!

Oh got the recal done with V39 or V40 who knows, but the car has been better since...got 5 more horsepowers back from the upgrade!

Gentlemen, for crying out loud!! These cars are built in England. What do you expect?? Unless it strands you out on a highway somewhere, count your blessings! If you want something that doesn't rattle, go buy a $40K Lexus.

Do you mean TOYOTA Lexus? I think MINI meet the standard and beyond for british motoring company...it's par with Aston Martin I would say.
