2005 S Deceleration Vibration

Hey guys. Question on an R53. It’s an ‘05 with 182k miles. On the way to work today, I noticed as I got on the highway that when I let off the gas, the car developed a major vibration. So I got up to 70, took it out of gear and it continued. The steering wheel doesn’t shake, it just feels like the car is shaking and it sounds like I'm running over a rumble strip when I am not. I don’t think it’s engine-related, because when I have the clutch in or it’s out of gear, it still does it. Any ideas where to start?

Two things to check. 1, make sure all of the lugs nuts on your wheels are tight (I've had them come lose and start to make noise when braking). If it's not that, it's probably a CV joint.

You might also check your wheel hubs if they haven't been replaced recently. Too much play in the bearing would also cause wobble/vibration. That could also explain the rumble you're hearing.
