recently came across a kit made by a company called A2:

I like the looks of it, pretty much a straight copy besides the fog light treatment.

It's all fiberglass though so fragility may be a concern over the long run.

Somebody has the whole kit up on eBay at the moment with a buy-it-now of £170,
which is a relative bargain:

I'd imagine that you are shipping literally tons of parts over from England/Europe.

No aero parts

 

Anybody heard about the Ground effects Aero kit for the R53? https://www.parts.com/index.cfm?fuse...ND-EFFECTS-KIT
I have no clue how it looks but the part number is the same as OEM... 51190146163 , checked on a BMW parts decoder, it's the whole kit to get the aero package. Think this is legit?

 

Those are nla, no one has them unless they are used. I am friends with MINIUSA and we are direct with MINI. Those old general parts sites are always behind.

 

 

Yep, working on it. We will update when we get something good and fits right. For now you can do the GP front bumper above which I think looks even better than the Aero kit.

 

I would like the above one if it didn't have that piece sliced out for a Euro plate. Can that be removed and the grill installed?

 

I have seen people fill it in and smooth it out.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger this morning and got one of the repops from BM Spares in the UK.

Not a bad price really.



I discovered that there are currently two companies making these things, Prasco and Blic.

I am considering having it filled and smoothed because I sorta like that look:




...but I'm still undecided if I actually will do that.

 

Any update on this? I like the Aero front bumper a lot better than GP front. I like rear GP better though. Need Aero sides too

Yes,

We have to get them on order from overseas.

We will push to get them sooner but comes by boat with a bunch of other body parts we are adding, the are aftermarket new,.

Now the rear bumper above is Genuine MINI. You cannot get the front bumper for the AERO kit new from MINI (primed), they are all gone.

We don't deal with used parts unless its scratch and dent on our site.
