Thank Gabe at MotoringFile to dig up the newest photo of the upcoming 2007 Mini. I really like the larger grille and twin headlamp look...I am going to get on the waiting list for a new 2007 model next October.

Ideally, the engine with have enough power/torque so that the slight turbo lag is negilible. With the current 1.6 a turbo probably would fall flat on it's face. As it is now, I don't really feel a surge until 3k-3.5k and then it really picks up.

i dont know if i am really feeling the twin headlight thing looks kinda weird. but the larger grill is cool and it also looks like it grew some side body molding, i usually like body molding, but for some reason it just does not flow with the lines of the car. o well, just me though

And I really dislike the idea of replacing super with turbo charged. Might as well buy a Sooby jimbo
The current WRC rules specify a mimimum length of 4000 mm; the MINI is 3635 mm.

As cool as it would be to see MINIs in the WRC (and it seems like they're going to need some more manufacturers thanks to Peugeot and Citroen pulling out after next year), I'm against anything that would make the car bigger and/or heavier.

There are a couple of things that I think about. Frank Stephenson, the designer of the new Mini has moved on to Ferrari and I think the new BMWs are ugly.

The "Tritec Pentagon" engine while not groundbreaking and used primarily because it was "low cost to manufacture", seems to be a good platform to do "fun" things to. Whille I would love to have more low end in my car, (I think it is producing about 200 hp) I am amazed at how well it keeps pulling strong to redline. The power seems well balanced and available. Throttle modulation and predictability is far better than any small engine turbo I've driven. (IMO)

I can't believe that people are delaying (gratification) the wonderful driving experiences you could be having now. You'll never get these years back.......go out and enjoy life.

The headlights on the originals seemed big, because the car was so small. So the current MINI looks cool with it's big headlights.

Twin headlights? No way IMHO. Enough not to buy it.

I can't think of any that use superchargers but feel free to list them out.

Plus it sounds so nice...
Um what Dodge are you talking about that uses turbos? The Neon SRT-4 is supercharged, the Current (03-04) Mustang Cobra is Supercharged, and there are several others, now there are others like VW, Subaru that use Turbos, i dont think Toyota or Mitsu currently have any cars with power adders.(EDIT: Forgot about the Mitsu EVO/ turbo) As for this discussion, i owned a '91 Mr2 Turbo for about 3 years, it was alot of fun but turbo lag and Intercooler heat soak, and turbo cooldown were always a *****. I just drive a MCS for the first time the other day, i will take the supercharger hands down. Both have a cool whine sound, but turbos can do the Psssh from the blowoff valve (if so equiped) but i much better like the instant power from the supercharger i dont like to wait. A supercharger is like my current 5.0L V8 mustang instant power at the push of the pedal no waiting. Although i think thats more torque than anything. I tried turbos for 4 years, then back to big V8s now i am ready for a supercharger!

There are WAY more manufacturer's of mainstream cars using turbos (compared to superchargers). Many of today's smaller turbos are virtually lag-free and can develop peak torque from very low revs and across a very wide RPM range. Moving to a turbo in the next gen MINI is the least of my concerns; I hope they get the styling right (no twin headlights please )

SRT-4 is turbocharged not supercharged.

I owned a 5.0 for ten years and the torque was great but it ran out of power in the higher revs. Mustangs outfitted with aftermarket turbos make way more power then ones equipped with superchargers. Most of the time you can't get the power to ground. If you get a chance, go look up the defunct Incon setups. They made gobs of power when added to 5.0 engines and they had a CARB number for cal smog.

I'm definitely in

After hearing that the MCS will (probably) have 200 hp, I'm definitely waiting for that. Once the 2007 comes out, the JCW will be out several months after that. I can't wait to see how much hp boost the JCW will give it. It'll be perfect timing to replace my 2004 MCS.

Huligan.

I've heard rumors that the 2011 Mini will have 345 HP from a Subaru designed flat 4 engine, so I am going to wait for that. Who's with me? If we can get enough people to wait for pie in the sky, we can be sure that no more Mini's will ever be sold!

If they put a flat four in it, you would be absolutely right!

But why wait for a 2011 model when the 2013 is better?

Not to out-do Joe D (yes I floss ev'ry day) I heard that the 2013 MINI will have the hybrid Hyundai-VW W6 that pushes a whopping 392 bhp through a Saab turbine, a 7-speed Gertrag, 20 inch wheels and 15" brake rotors, and a power to weight ratio of 9 to 1: 0-100-0 in ten seconds flat

No kidding!!

Sequence, you forgot one more thing: they also come with 6" exhausts.

Enough of this nonsense, folks, enjoy your present MINI!

Mr. Fusion and hovercraft airborne capabilities will be offered as part of the "Fly over the traffic" package by 2015. What else can you ask for? Your MINI will be able to run on empty beer cans and when you get sick and tired of earthly traffic jams, with the flick of a button, your MINI becomes airborne as all 4 wheels flip down.

Buyers picking this package will be offered free training at the factory flying proving grounds in Oxford. No FAA license required. If you are afraid of heights, need no apply.

The MINI is a relatively heavy car, for its size, and that is one of the main reasons that this tiny 1.6 liter engine has little torque. These two things are not going to change with the newer designed MINI in 2007. So, I believe the supercharged MINI will be the best model for a long time to come, at least until some future generation MINI can beat that performance.

But by then the MINI may be much bigger, so not fun anymore. I don't believe I just said that.
