I was in there today ... they have some 15" steel wheels with snow tyres; told that you can have them fitted for about $700. Quite nice looking, with MINI logo on the hub cap (?)
But still not sure if I need snow tyres down here in East Mass.
[ps: Bruce - good to see you again there ... sad to hear your MINI will soon be bedded down for the winter]

I sure hope some of this bloody salt is gone from the roads by midday tomorrow! I actually saw someone throwing salt on top of the 4 inches of snow on their sidewalk this morning.
I don't need my MINI for daily driving until February, so I'm still squeamish about road salt. I'll be there tomorrow, though (and probably hit the car wash on the way home!).
My Cooper is red and white with a big
boognish sticker in the rear passenger window. Hope to see you all there!

I'll be there too. Just look for the red/black S with the "GOMINI" reg. plate that is caked with road grime and white salt! I tried to wash the MINI today but the hose was frozen solid! It did spit a few chunks of ice and a little water but then gasped and died.
Peabody should have a hose set up there so we can get the crud off our babies when we arrive.

There is a self-serve power washer thingy up the road somewhere. I took my MCS to one a week ago, and it was alright, but it was either coming out lightly, or full-blast. Not wanting to power wash the paint off my car, I did just a so-so job on it. It was better than nothing though.
I also might actually have a reason to go up to Peabody tomorrow, other than the BBQ. Flat tire monitor came on tonight.
3 out of 4 tires were at 37psi, with one at 24. Must have something in there. *sigh*
Hope it won't take a whole new tire.

That's a great idea! (hint, hint - any dealership folks lurking around?)
Of course, we ARE getting free lunch... That works out nicely, since I'm going to dinner with my girlfriend for our anniversary and it will probably cost somewhere in the neighborhood of a plane ticket to the west coast.
I just got a box of stuff in the mail from MINI today, and the only thing I really want is the pen (and the roadside assistance card!). I'll bring along the rest in case anyone wants it - a "MINI motoring journal", a couple of highway bingo games, and a MINI messaging kit (signs to hold up to other drivers).
Supposed to be sunny tomorrow!

For those that missed it ...
A good spread of hot dog, burgers and BBQ chicken pieces, corn, drinks, etc. Nicely done Martin!
Lots of MINI owners - lucky the cars are small as the parking filled up rapidly.
Great chance to check out other MINIs ... a red MCS with aero kit and body painted fender flares, a Black MCS with Lapis Blue interior (nice!) and lots of friendly faces.
10% off accessories - clothing, snowglobes (sold out), etc.
And discounts on Borla exhaust kit, driving lights, etc.
Fun to see you all again - we must keep together!

That was me  Too bad all our cars looked so crummy from good old New England winter roads. Some owners did stop at the local car wash and do a quicky before coming in. MINI of Peabody sure knows how to treat their customers
A full spread buffet (with lovely serving girls
), the service bay open for all to hang out, discounts and give a ways. One S fitted with the Supersprint exhaust and one S fitted with the Borla exhaust up on the lifts for us to investigate was a nice touch. I purchased some great items at discount but also went away with some gifts: the most awesome MINI calendar (very artistic and HUGE), a beautiful key chain etched with "MINI of Peabody" and the phone # and a box of MINI mints. Of course I usually stock up on "holy water" (the little bottles of MINI water) and a coke or two for the road from the free MINI Bar as well. I just can't say enough about how well they treat us. What a great bunch of guys. Also signed up for the contact sheet to be part of the fun when they build their MINI drag car and we can all meet at New England Dragway in NH for some serious fun.
It was a pleasure to meet so many MINI owners and put some faces to the forum user names. Cheers to all! Thanks for a great day.
Yeah.
It was pretty neat. Too bad I think I heard that dragway stuff might only be on Wednesday nights as I am at work.
Peabody by far sounds like one, if not THE best dealerships out there. They do treat us really well even after they have all of our money. Other dealerships should learn from them.
Someone organize a meet. I was picking up my car on that Saturday of the last meet then I had to catch a flight. I'll be up for the next one.
Anyone see me? Probably looked like hell, unshaven...wearing my work clothes (Midwest Airlines "gas station" type jacket) etc.
Can't wait for the next get together!

The New England Dragway nights include Saturday so that may be helpful.
Secondly, I thought I saw someone of that description pushing a loaded grocery cart up Route 1
Sorry I didn't get to meet you. I made a point of going around and saying Hi to lots of folks but didn't get to everyone of course. I think we need name tags with our forum names and real names on them when we have these gatherings.

It was great to meet a few people, but since I could only stick around for about an hour, I was too busy stuffing myself with hot dogs and potato salad to have too many conversations. Never did find you, Carl! I was looking for an EB/B MCS but didn't see one. Darn, I wanted to check out that space cloth, too - I haven't seen it yet.
All of the dealership people were very pleasant. I couldn't believe the difference in the atmosphere from Herb Chambers, where you feel as if at any moment you might be dragged into a closet and beaten. I'll definitely be coming to Peabody for the maintenance. I can stomach buying oil filters from Herb Chambers, but that's about it.
Hope you enjoyed the drive back to the cape, Steve. It was a great day for driving once the roads dried out a bit.

Hi Chris,
Yeah, I had a great drive back to the Cape. Took a detour or two along the way. Amazing how short and enjoyable a ride can be behind the wheel of a MINI
For the record, I can attest to you "stuffing yourself with hot dogs and potato salad"
Not that I would be guilty of any such behavior!!! (burp)
Sunday turned out to be a great day to wash 20 or 30 pounds of winter crud off the car. Hope everyone took advantage of it.
Best regards to all fellow Peabody motorers. Hopefully we can keep this up and meet a few times a year.
