Engine cost

I tried the "search" function, got nowhere.

Just curious, "about" what does/should a complete 05, S engine cost ? While the engine runs, and "seems" to run well, the current owner, showing me that the engine runs, put the gas pedal on the floor as soon as it started..!! Other than that...it's got a bit over 100,000 miles on it. He "said" that the 100,000 tune-up was done. Yea, like I can prove or disprove that.
From an all aluminum radiator to the clutch. The radiator appears to be in good condition. No clue abut the rest.

I originally just wanted the blower and gear and cylinder head so I could do some head and intake manifold porting to install on my car. But then thought that a whole engine might be a good thing to have.

Anyway, your thoughts about what a reasonable price should be ?

Mike

You will seen them on CL anywhere from $1000 to $2500.

Looks like I lucked out.
The engine's here and it's got stuff...

An Alta 17% pulley.
An ATI Damper. Don't know which one. No number visible on the face. The blower screamed like a proverbial Banshee when the guy revved the engine to redline, so maybe it's the 2% over damper..
The aftermarket aluminum radiator is in fairly good shape. Some fins bent, but the tubes look good. A few minutes to straighten the fins and all is good.
Also came with the fan still attached to the radiator.
I'll get the motor mounts and ECU/ECM next week.

Also...the cam cover has been off. Silicone sealer all over. Makes me wonder about the possibility of an aftermarket cam to go with the pulleys..!!

Mike

Forgot - Can't tell for sure about the injector color. The exhaust ports are lightly sooty BLACK. With the two pulleys I can assume that the engine isn't running lean. No it doesn't appear to be oil in the exhaust.

Question - Are the ECM/ECU's coded to the particular car ?
Can I "work with" this ECU and leave the original with the JCW mapping intact (run either ECU/ECM at any given time) ?
