Big Dumb Guy Question - R53 Floor mat slldiing around

Feel like a dum_ss, but I am tired of this little issue

I have a '05 MCS R53 with OEM rubber floor mats. The driver mat just keeps sliding forward and crams up against the pedals. Is there a way to secure the mat so it does not slide? I'm guessing they came with something...but its not there... Thanks, it's annoying the heck out of me

My experience does not agree with yours. The driver side rubber floor mat has Velcro pads that are intended to prevent it from sliding forward. They are not well align the counterparts on the floor carpet. Despite of this my OE rubber mats are the best of any rubber mats I have ever own. They stay put very well due to the generous weight, traction features on the underside, and most importantly perfectly designed to fit around all the features of the floorpan, accelerator and deadman pedals.

I don't even take them out driving on tracks as they are so secure.

Mine do not have the velcro underneath...that's why they slide. I wonder if I could get replacement velcro? Do you know of any place? Or idea?

Each time I remove the rubber mats to vacuum I have never felt the Velco pads are doing anything, but I can be wrong. Are you sure you have the genuine MINI rubber pads? May be there are more than one. Please post photos.

Mine slides around too - so I guess I'm missing the pads as well. I routinely get in the car and pull the mat back to the seat rails. I'm switching to Weathertech's anyways, so it doesn't really matter at this point.

Do you still have the OEM carpeted mats installed? I have my rubber ones on top of the stock mats and have the slipping problem. I'm always saying that I'll pull the carpeted ones and try the all weather alone, but never think of it until times like now.

You can buy industrial strength Velco tape at big box stores or Amazon online. Pretty simple fix, just make sure all surfaces are cleaned prior to install.

No doubt, but I like the looks of the JCW Pro all weather mats better.

We must have different MINI rubber mats from those report sliding. I fail to see how mine can slide around even if the velcro are not there. The features of the accelerator and the dead pedal prevent it from moving forward. The floor pan has very steep side walls and the stiff mat just does not try to climb in all 4 directions.

Putting these mat on top of another set of mat is to invite trouble as one above reported how he use them.

Got a fix...

All the banter aside...These are real OEM Mini S rubber mats...and the driver side mat kept sliding forward.

Velcro would not grab the carpet so that is out.

I got a fix. I used two small/short bungy chords which I attached to the back edge of the mat. I looped the bungy chords around a good anchor under the front side of the driver seat. Can't see it unless you look under the seat and it keeps the mat from sliding forward...done.

Thanks for all the conversation

I'll try to get a pic of mine later - but they move too.

Nice solution. Like I said, I'm switching mine out - so my issue will be resolved too.

My OEM mats move all over the place and there's no velcro - I'll try the bungee and see if that helps!

I finally swapped my OEM rubber mats to Weathertech because of the weight difference...also WT is dished and much more effective at protecting the carpet...

My rubber mat might just move if someone strangle me from the back seat with a steel wire. I can't see it move even driving on the track with happy and restkess feet.

I originally had the carpets, and switched to rubber .They are solid, I agree.

Leave me wonder if those experience sliding have rubber mats that has deteriorated from hot sun exposure. My velcro is doing nothing as the guy at Classic Mini did a crap job placing the floor side not aligned with that on the carpet at all.
