The best I've got is MSRP plus tax and license, anyone got better deal?

 

dude U wont find a new 05 MCS at any dealer anywhere in America for under MSRP, let alone SoCal. Take the deal. What's your wait time, if any?

Right now its either wait a minimum of 10 weeks or so and pay MSRP (still over a year in some parts of America) or get one now (if available) and pay the markup. There may be some 05s on eBay, but I haven't looked, and if mine was on sale there, you'd pay MSRP minimum.

The MINI dealer in Sacramento is charging $2500 above MSRP. And since he didn't have one on the lot that had the features I wanted (and didn't have the features I didn't want), I asked about ordering one. They said they wouldn't be able to get the car before January, when the $500 price increase takes effect. It was either buy a car off the lot, with a lot of extras I didn't want like leather seats and butt warmers and HK sound systems, for a $2500 markup plus the cost of the extras, or order exactly what I wanted, wait until January, and pay the $2500 markup plus the $500 price increase.

So I've ordered a MCS from Classic MINI in Ohio -- at MSRP, with just the options I want, and it looks like the car will be ready to pick up the first week of December! With the $3000 (minimum) that I'm saving, my wife and I are going to fly to Cleveland and motor across the country, visiting friends and family in Columbus, Knoxville, Memphis, St. Louis, and Colorado Springs.

I've heard there's a MINI dealer in the East Bay (Pleasanton?) that will sell cars at MSRP - the only catch is there's about a 10 month waiting list!

 

Good call on Classic, LombardStreet. I've said it a million times, they are God's gift to the MINI-ordering world.

My friend just bought a drop top for under MSRP here in Fla. $200 under. Geeze throw me a bone.

 

Convertibles aren't selling nearly as well as coupes. My dealer, in NJ, has conertibles sitting around the lot

It was 12 months before..I should know because I ordered the first week of July 2003 and picked it up at the end of June 2004!

But you can get a convertible there at msrp and the wait is about four to five months right now.

 

I live in So Cal, and they mark them up 15% out here (about 5k). I'm getting mine from Mini of St. Louis with no mark ups and driving it back to San Diego next week. They could have delivered it for about $750, but I have to go out there for a wedding and what a great way to break it in on the drive back. My advice is look outside of California and save some money.

Yep, East Bay MINI in Pleasonton's policy is only sell MSRP. That's who I've ordered my Cooper from, and yep about 10 months for MCS... I don't even want to know what the wait list is like for the convetibles..

However, the wait for my Cooper will be (once I get it) about 5 months.

Oh well, only about 3 more weeks!!!

 

The cooper vert actually has a short wait time at EB Mini. My friend ordered one and it should be here in March or April 2005.

 

When I decided to order a convertible, the wait at local dealers , or their markup,was too much here in Northern VA. I ordered from Hendrick in Charleston SC, and another one from Jacksonville FL. I paid MSRP gladly, in order to get the cars rather quickly since at the time they had short lists.
Meanwhile, if I lived in SoCa and dealers wanted thousands over, you're darn toot'n I'd fly to pick it up. Heck, it's an adventure. We stopped along the 800 mi trip from JACKSONVILLE to DC area to visit friends, plus had a blast driving the rag top!

Absolutely loving the car! Odd though-- I hear the convertible isn't as hot on the used mkt as a coupe...weird! Yet the prices people are asking for near new ones resale is thousands over MSRP...there are some in auto trader, and roadfly for sure.

Kudos BMW for the stellar design and engineering!

 

Just a side note, EB Mini is also a Hendrick dealership.

 

I don't know if there are any left, but STERLING MINI in Sterling VA was offering a huge discount on 3 cooper convertibles if bought from stock by end of month OCT , yes a day or so! He wasn't advertising it all, but if anyone is interested... call Jim . Something about meeting a quota or something.

 

Is there a classified secton for used cars on this site? I don't seem to find one...

 

I got my 2005 MCS from Mini of the Woodlands in Houstin Texas for sticker with no wait. I tried every dealership in the western United States and this was the closest one that would sell at MSRP with no waiting list. My advisor set everything up and got me on the road within an hour.

 

I contacted MINI of Long Beach was quoted a 15 month waiting period for a MCS at MSRP. Everyone on the west coast had cars on the lot, but all had options I was not interested in and the mark-up was higher than ordering. I ended up buying from MINI of Nashville and will (with no delays) take delivery at the end of December. It's kinda pricey to have it delivered to WA state but worth it.

 

My friend just got word he will get his production # next week for a MCC. He sent his down payment earlier this week. I don't know if someone gave up his slot but all I know is that he will be getting it eight weeks from now. MSRP at EBM. Lucky guy!

 

When I put down my deposit for a MCSC about a month ago,
they mentioned that MCC orders were coming from current
allocations. However, the MCSC had about a 30 person waiting
list at the time, resulting in a 6 to 7 month wait (about a three
or four month wait for allocation and the rest for production and
delivery.

So, it does not look as if it would be too difficult to get a MCC on
short order here in the SF Bay Area... but the MCSC is another matter.

I don't know if all markets are like this... anyone?
