Haven't reached her limits yet, but then I bought her for driving on the street in a sporting manner, and don't intend to run her on the track, anyway. Looking forward to plenty more miles, with maybe a few more tweeks, and a lotta grins. Maybe the newer MINIs have something different, not particularly better, so I'm stickin' with runnin' what I brung, so to speak. Brooksie's part of the family now, and will be around for a good long while.

Very well-said, Rob! Brooksie is a doll! Cheers to you and your Chris!

Clover, maybe you should change your screen name from MINICLO to :

"MINIHO" .
Zane grey is a june 02 build MCS.I got a tee shirt from MoP with an odometer reading 176( that was the # of MINIs sold at that point at that dealership.)Just about to roll over 40 K.My original premise in buying this car was that if it was as good as I thought it would be, it would be my last vehicle, doing whatever it took to keep it going. You know , one of those million milers like that P1800 Volvo .Nothing , I repeat, Nothing has happened to make me change that original plan.It just keeps getting better and better and...................LOVE IT!
funny now how far away my windscreen problems seem(6 and counting). Jock

I have an August 02 build with 25K miles and I have to think everyone had there act together the day they touched my car on the production line. I have no rattles, no minor annoyances and no problems. My only trip to the dealer has been for the 10K service. I don’t drive many miles daily to work, but I do race on the weekends and hit the Dragon whenever I get some extra time. In fact I’ll be going there in just a couple weeks for the 3rd time this year.

I don’t think of my MCS as old, but I do consider it just getting through the break in stage and it’s never run better.

Speaking of break in periods, I drove this car like a maniac from day one. 5 minutes from the dealer with only 8 miles on the odometer I was doing 95 MPH and drove it that speed the 600 miles home. I’ve never babied any car and my MCS is no exception. So much for the theory you have to break it in if you want to avoid problems.

Oh my! I had forgotten -- at home I still have the numbered shirt that MINI of Pittsburgh was giving out for the first xxx # of MINI's sold (I want to say 200, but it could have been more.)

I was talking to my mum last night -- she had just seen a cabrio billboard ("your epidermis is showing") and was trying to convince me (SERIOUSLY convince me) to trade in my Ollie on a MCSC.

I admit: the thought had crossed my mind. But then I realized that meant TRADING OLLIE As in, someone else would be loving him (or worse: someone else would NOT be loving him). I must admit: I simply cannot do it. I cannot get rid of my dear boy. I will die with him -- a crazy old lady, probably in San Fransisco, with thousands of cats and a feather boa.. and a 2003 IB/W MCS in the parking lot.

Another happy 2002 MINI owner here:smile:

Its been over 2 years since the very first time I laid my eyes on the new MINI Cooper. We custom ordered "Tina" our Pepper White/Black Cooper CVT on June 30th, 2002 and took delivery on September 7th, 2002. The day before we just had comeback from a wonderful 2 week trip out in the American West..what a way to finish off our vacation .

Tina's first MINI Meet was Florida MINI's meet #2 up in Ft Lauderdale a week after delivery. What a great turn out we had that day...it was very fun to finally be part of the family.

Tina was built in early August 2002 and from order to delivery it took exactly 7 weeks (Actually if it hadn't been for our 2 week trip we could have taken delivery in late August instead).

The car has been ROCK SOLID and still looks fantastic (Turns heads wherever she goes). She's been to 7 states, the Blue Ridge mountains and many other places in between. Around 10K miles worth of roadtrips and another 15K miles in city driving. Believe it or not the car still has the original factory windshield INTACT.

The CVT is a pleasure to drive and the car just keeps getting better and better and smoother as the miles rack up.

2002 was a great year and we had so much fun waiting for our first MINI. I still remember the ship she came in...the Tanabata.

Great discussion thread. We should all feel proud to be part of the "founders" group of MINI owners.

I saw my first Mini in July, 2001 on the lot of the BMW headquarters in Munich .......knew I had to have one and fourteen months later....... 9/16/02....I did. I had to wait six months for it and suffered with the 'stumble' for over a year .......... painful, but it didn't ruin my spirit. I was surprised by the extent to which I could customize and improve it's performance (see below) which I did..... and after two years I am even more energized by THE SILVER DART than when I first got it.

'02 MCS, ds/w, bonnet stripes, front mud guards, silver M7 ultimate grill, BF Goodrich Traction T/A V rated non-run flats, rubber floor & boot mats, silblades, Pilo CAI & ignition system, B&M shorter shifter, Whalen shift ****, Helix 15% pulley, M7 device, RDR rear sway bar, GIAC chip, Greenstuff brake pads. Also, some minor stuff......glove box organizer, Mini luggage, driving gloves, cell phone holder, radar detector.....yadda, yadda.

I love it!!!

:D I'm glad I decided to click on this thread, I thought it was for original Mini's!!
I definitely have an ego problem about having my Mini for a long time. Especially when people bring up The Italian Job, like mini's were never made before that movie came out or something, lol. All hail the old mini's! I could never trade mine in, Frodo is going to be with me forever
