JCW vs. S Coupe

What are the performance parts between a JCW and a standard S Coupe that make up the 40hp difference? According to my wifes 2006 owners manual her S coupe came with 168hp and the JCW was 208.

The owner we bought the car from dyno'd the car at 198whp. All I can tell is that is has a JCW pulley and a Dinan airbox and filter. Not sure if anything else?

Thanks,
Jeff

Something does not calculate as the guy you bought the car from said 198 at the wheel that would equate to something like 230 at the crank. 170 at the wheels would be around 200 at the crank, that would more acceptable but perhaps still high if the stock exhaust is still in place.

The JCW 3AL kit was the limited slip, larger breaks, different exhaust and the engine kit. The 06 JCW engine had a special head, ceramic coated supercharger, 380 injectors and the tune to go with everything

Dyno's can be way off.......they are really only accurate when you are doing a before and after comparisor run on the same dyno with the same car. Just because the dyno pull reads 200hp....that might be 180, that might be 220, or somewhere in between. I've seen the same car being ran on differenty dynos showing a huge different in HP and TQ.

Also, I don't think they started doing suspension and brake improvements on the JCW models until 07' on the 2nd gen models.

It's very normal for the 210 JCW package to produce 165-175 whp, with the factory tune.
But, as mentioned before, this is just an avg, all cars react different to the same tune, simply because all parts work different when matched with other parts, this is the entire reason that custom tunes are beneficial, even with factory parts, and also why the gains from a custom tune will vary, you never know how close a factory tune is with your specific parts. Then throw in the inaccuracy between different dyno's or even conditions, and numbers can be all over the place.

And yes, I've seen custom tuned JCW cars be right at 200 whp.

This is about a S not a JCW. A S with a pulley and air box pulling 198 at the wheels is crazy

198hp on one shops dyno might not be 198hp on another shops dyno. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
