R50/53 not so good MPG
Believe it or not, this has been a concern of mine since I'd read about not so good mileage. After 500 miles, I've got 38.1 on the hightway (80 mile trip at max of 65 mph). Around town I'm at 33.1. My car has the Nav so I have two averages I can watch. I also have to note I've only red-lined it about 4 times. To get the 38 mpg I drove it extremely easy.
Now wonder why I'm concerned? "Cause I have a Diesel Beetle that will get 49 mpg!
Darn diesel costs more than regular here in SC right now.

Just get a 105 hp Scion B engine and drop it in there and your mileage will go way up. Otherwise, buy a gas can and drive less. Getting 168 HP out of a 1600 CC engine is not easy or fuel efficient. I get about 30 mpg on the turbocharged 1600 in my Capri, but it is tuned to 135 HP. So detune your engine and your mileage will go up - and that smile will go away.

I bought the engine but left it in the xB. Getting about 34 mpg on it and still breaking in the engine. My 02 MC gets about 32. There is a larger difference in the fun factor, but my dogs appreciate being allowed in the box! (And for the sticklers out there, Scion xB is 108 hp. At this level, every horse counts!)

I have the number for the whole trip written down in the car but I sort of remember what one tankful was. 380 or so miles on 12 gallons of gas.
That is about 32.5 mpg
My '04 Coop' gets 440 miles per tank!

My last two fillups were 400/420 miles with 40/20 on OBC "Range".
Fuel was 12.376 and 12.632 gallons.
32.3 - 33.2 MPG !
I don't race, but I don't drive 'er like a wimp either.

Tire pressure was the same (34) so what's with that? Fall air and slightly higher altitude? The air was on every time. The only other thing I can conclude is that my MC rewards me for having more fun. Any other ideas?
If so, thanks.
gas milage
Just drove my new cooper from north Alabama to dallas, and OBC tells me I got just over 30 mpg. I cruised between 75 -85 mph. While enroute i passed the break in period. i've read about optimistic obc, but if milage improves around 5000 miles I'll be happy. BTW, installed 17" non-runflats and s-lites
