R50/53 DiD Picture Post: Flagstaff Mountain
Here are some pics from this morning. I'll post more later. There are plenty, as I shot more than 200 shots as we worked our way up Flagstaff Mountain, outside of Boulder Colorado.

Dave,
Great pictures! Sorry I couldn't join you this morning...our daughters were at their grandparents so took the opportunity to sleep in. What a beautiful day for a drive up Flagstaff though...I may have to do it later this afternoon!

Great pics Dave. Looks like the weather was more cooperative for your group in Boulder than it was for the Boston MINI group. Thanks for sharing such great photos.

Davbret: The switchbacking photo is one of my favorites too.
gerbs: That elevated shot almost didn't happen. I was trying to climb up the steep hillside with the camera and the tripod and the footing was less than good. I slid back down a couple times. Anyhow, I think the effort paid off as that shot is my other favorite from yesterday.

helmi_45: Yeah, in my ever evolving wheel choices...
- my car came with the r90s and I took the s-lites home in the back seat
- then I sold the r90s and got the white R84s with regular tires
- then I swapped the S-lites on, because the silver is way easier to keep clean than the white R84s.
-the white R84s go back on in the spring
As far as suspension mods go, so far I have just done the H&R springs. However, I would like to do coilovers or struts if Bilstein and Koni get something out in a reasonable timeframe (i.e. before the end of winter).
The ride isn't really all that different from the Cooper S stock suspension, in terms of steady state cruising, but via a combination of the spring rate and the lower ride height, the cornering is improved (less roll). Overall, I'm very pleased with the set-up. I am looking forward to the end of winter.

Now I know where they sent the MCS logo designers for inspiration
These are all really quite beautiful. Congratulations and thank you for sharing them.

Dave
I was out in your area last May and took a side trip through Boulder Canyon. I damn near ran off the road a half dozen times just gawking at the scenery. Too bad I was in a rented car and not a Mini. I'm sure I would have paid more attention to the road.

nyjerr and sndwave: I'm glad some others have had a chance to drive the roads near Boulder. There are some great little side trips throughout that area. This is really a great area for being able to take a little half day diversion into the local mountians.
