If the current crank pulley is fine then just rock that for a while. Can your budget afford all new bushings and springs and mounts and ball joints and tie rods? Cause blown shocks put extra stress on all that as well. Ignoring blown shocks to save money will cause you to spend more money.

When the coil goes, it goes! Car will still be mobile but it will sputter. On the R53, one good way to know what is coming is to check the #3 terminal on the coil to see if it is corroding. If it is, you are well on your way to misfiring!

Example of new:

It is the back driver side terminal. Instead of a nice, shiny/chrome terminal, you will see a terminal that looks like it was made from copper. The more you have, the greater the chance of a misfire coming. No idea why #3 goes first but it is common. My coil lasted until the 87,551 mile marker...

Well the car makes roughly 2hp below 4k rpm, and shudders like crazy from a start if I don't feather the crap out of the clutch.

Everything on this car (that I haven't replaced myself in the last few months) is original from the factory and worn to uselessness, so I assumed the entire ignition system needed some TLC, especially if I was going to overdrive the supercharger..but I'll try NGK wires, new plugs, and cleaning the ignition coil terminals first.
