P1242

My CEL lit up with code p1242 which is high pressure on deceleration which I think means a air bypass valve replacement, do other R53 driver concur?

Could be the vacuum tube that connects to the MAP sensor - the fitting at the sensor has been known to get brittle over time and break off. Also could mean bypass valve replacement.

Hi Sherman!

Here is a diagram that may help. The description says "Attaches to the intake snorkel just downstream from the throttle body."

I replaced the bpv and cleaned up the throttle body last night then took for a run----everything seemed fine including the rpm drop between gears---no CEL. Today after a 50 mile run the CEL came back on after a restart and a code of 1242 so the problem has not been remedied. I did check the vacuum line and all seemed well. The MAP sensor is new---is there anything else that can be wrong??? Where does the vacuum line normally crack? The line I checked is much longer than the one shown in the graphic.
