I have not posted on this thread in some time. I have bought and sold many Minis since this thread started. I am happy to report that all but one new owner is completely satisfied with their purchase from me. The other one a pepper white R53 S, blew the clutch the first week he had it. It was totally the young man's lack of clutch use, as described by his dad. I felt really bad about it and gave his dad $500 towards a new clutch.
Right now, I am trying to get a 06 R53 JCW model. I have checked the vin and it is factory built JCW. It is Hyper Blue with a silver top and mirror covers. Has Black and tan interior and chrono package.
Wish me luck, as I must bid on it on 1/3/17.

Wayne you make me proud. Now if i was up around your area we would be in business my friend. I share your Mini passion. The only thing is we would have to change the name of the company to " Old Fart Mini Restorers, LLC" LOL. I hope your daughter would approve as I'm an old fart retired military man. Cheers and good luck with your Mini adventures and keep us posted. I enjoy reading your updates.

Hey Wayne,

LOVE your enthusiasm !!

We have his and her minis BOTH 2006...Mine chili red....hers silver....BOTH are automatics.

Much traffic here in eastern MA....owned a 5 speed Maxima for 25 years!!

Loved it but got sick of sitting in traffic and pushing clutch 200 times in few miles !!!

We purchased hers in July 2016 and mine in October 2016.

Come to find out 2005 and 2006 are the BEST years to own according to the Techs a Mini.
They call them " bullet proof" and they ALL drive those years !!!!

As far as the " smoker" smell. my friend who own a reconditioning shop said to put FRESH coffee grounds from the can on a few plates and place them inside the car.

One on each seat....AND on the floor. use about 8 plates.

windows all up and let sit for a week.

Good Luck and keep those Minis running !!!!!!

I got the 06 JCW, which is blue with silver top. I plan on keeping this one and putting my 05 S with chrono package up for sale.

To say the least, I am really Happy!
I have to go to California (northern, to pick it up)

The interior is perfect, the body has 4 or five dooor digs with no paint damage, but I am going to need to deal with them for my good Karma.
It is a two owner car and the second owner just ran it until the problems got too many for him. The AC is not working and I have fixed several on Minis since last May. One of the headlight sprayers is missing, but I have one here.
It seems like when it was taken off of the car carrier, they messed up the flex part on the exhaust... that may be a pain to fix.
It needs new rotors and brakes, so that is the first mission.
I have a great felling about this car!
Thanks

Hi Mini.the.Moocher,
This one I may just keep until the wheels fall off! LOL I searched long and hard to get a keeper like this one!
There are several for sale out there, but I was looking for a particular one with certain options I felt were a "Must" for me.
I love the first gens, so I have kept my search to that end.

She looks like a keeper, Wayne! Nice find. Re the dents, are you going to have a "paintless dent remover" company take care of them, or are you thinking about a do-it-yourself kit? I have one little ding I want to get rid of at some point. Probably $50 to $100 to have someone else do it.

I am thinking about buying a proffesional paintless removal system, as I can use it on all the minis I send out of my shop. I have looked at several different types and still don't know which way to go!

I know what you mean, I've looked at several too and can't make up my mind. I don't suppose we could find a pro who would tell us what equipment he uses?

I have had this happen a few times and it is a common problem. I solved the one on my 06 Mini S JCW with a fluid balanced dampener.

Thes were both on S models:

This one I am happy with:

I am updating this thread.
I have been driving my new to me 06 Mini S JCW, for a while now and it is as fun as my 05 Mini S.
Last week (4/26/17) I sold my beloved BRG 05 S. A young girl, from a couple hundred miles away, came to look at some of my Minis. She was shocked that I had a BRG S with chrono package. She told me she had been looking for a BRG like this for months. She did not even want to look at the six others I have for sale. I told her it had a 6 speed stick in it, thinking it would scare her off, but her comment was: "It is the only way I would want it!" She drove it and immediately made a deal with me for it and before I knew it, she and my BRG Mini was gone. I will miss that car, as it is the first one I got, since starting this trip with Mini Coopers last February. I have sold a dozen of them since then and am down to five for sale right now. I olny have one other S right now, besides my 06 jcw, which ain't for sale, no way, no how!
I just popped the air conditioner on my 06 yesterday. I was having a very brisk run with a Subaru with 4 fart cans on it. I did not turn off the air and toasted it somehow.
I went ahead and purchased a new OEM air con Kit and hopefully will get it in soon, as the Mini Mania event in Nevada City, Ca is coming up quickly and I will need it working there, as it is quite hot there!
This is it:

I figured this should do the trick!
I am quite busy, so I am guessing, I will not get the suspension bushings on, before the Mini Mania event, but the air con comes first and I am busy with the other Minis right now.
