R50/53 Schwaben VS Bavarian scan tools
Schwaben VS Bavarian scan tools
Hey peeps, need a scan tool and after reading a good bit, it seems as if, for the R53's, the Bavarian scan tool is mostly a waste of money unless you get a newer model while the Schwaben is better for getting into code detail.
I'll always stick to the R53's, but will most likely get into tuning and very possibly get a JCW at some point. Any other suggestions before I dump 200$ into a scanning tool? Anything better out there such as tuning software which could also do the job?

Ok, so I'm doing some more reading based on the info you guys gave me here. so NCSexpert seems like a good program to do a few changes to your car's programming, (more on the R56 and up than the R53) but does it also act as a good scan tool, such as finding issues with engine codes and bad abs sensors?
And am I reading things correctly when i'm seeing posts about tuning a BMW or mini being near an impossible task unless proper courses/training has been taken? In other words, there is no, or not much need for a tuning community with these cars?

Being an owner of both the BAV tech and Scwaben...I can tell you the Scwaben is the better tool. It's stand alone and easily portable and has more functions than basic B/T.
No limit to how many cars you can use it on!!! I does activations of the abs pump for bleeding...the list goes on.
