R50/53 Cooper S Losing Power when I step on the gas
Cooper S Losing Power when I step on the gas
My '03 Mini S drives normally and suddenly it stops revving and loses power when I step on the gas. It still responds and makes a very low revving noise. It eventually just rolls to stop and shuts off.
The sunroof tube leaked and the whole thing filled with water and the windshield wipers go on when I turn the car off. So it has been a mess. I fail to see how this relates unless it's a fuse.

Any codes? Check engine lights?
Getting the BCM in the right side, or the fuse block that supplies power to everything else on the left side can make a mess....remember seeing a few fuseblocks that were free from corrosion that dealers had to replace.

I suspected this because I accidentally kicked out one of those green fuses. However, this time it seems more mechanical because the engine is revving but for some reason not producing power. It even moves a little. Codes are irrelevant because all the lights are on or off post flood. Windshield wipers turn on when the car turns off.
Sounds like the car is going into "limp home mode." It should trigger the check engine light and the EML light and log a code. When our '05 MCS did this, it set the TPS code and eventually I had to replace the whole throttle body. How much water actually got in?
Codes are never irrelevant... Even if there's a bunch of random ones, you can usually see some that will point out in one direction.
The BCM can prevent the car from doing a lot of stuff. We had a '08 Cooper at work (Toyota dealer) that leaked from the sunroof and it killed the BCM, which prevented the car from running properly, then it wouldn't start anymore.

Ow man... Sorry, I have to informative input. But, is there a way to water proof the BCM? Preventative thinking. Sorry Sentinel69, hope it gets fixed relatively quickly and nothing too serious.
