R50 Transmission issues

My 2005 Mini Cooper has been having acceleration issues. While im driving down the freeway, say my rpms are at 3k and i decide to press on the gas a little more aggressively. Well, the rpms shoot up as if i was holding the clutch pedal and hitting the gas at the same time. In order for thr car to acceleratei have to slowly press the gas and that wasnt the case when i got the car last year. Any ideas? I havent changed the trans fluid since i got it. I might change it next week along with a few gaskets. And the clutch seems a little worn since i have to almost let go of the cluth to accelerate during take off which is different from my dad's miata. If you lay off even a little on that car before hitting the gas the car is already beginning to shut off. Anyways any ideas? Please help.

How many miles on car. Sounds like you need a new clutch as it is not holding when you apply gas.

Uh yeah if your RPM's start shooting up when you accelerate with the clutch fully engaged, your clutch is toast. Get that replaced ASAP.

It's a pretty big job on the MINI. If you don't do it yourself, probably a couple thousand for an OEM replacement.

It is mostly labour.... So every area will be based on the labour rate....IMO find a good independent shop that deals with MINI cars, your best bet. They will not need to "learn" on your car as a ginypig, and have lower rates than a dealer.
In my area, the dealers are about $180 an hour depending on the % added to the bill, usually 2% for miscellaneous shop supplies, plus hazerdouse waste fees....then add sales tax...ouch...
The independent shops are 90-110$ per hour....so lots to be saved on a 6-8 hrs job...most shops bill"book" even though a good MINI mechanic that knows a few tricks can do it in more like 4 or less if the car "cooperates".... But the spread between the actual and the book is how shops make $$ and to make up for hard cases....that's why your car can be spend so much time on the lift, or parked out back, and nobody's touching it....lol.
Guessing you are looking at $1500-2000 if you are still driving it with a slipping clutch..... The flywheel is likly toast....but they are cheaper on a r50 than a cooper S.

As Zippy said, by big job I mean labor intensive. You have to take the entire front end out and everything in front of the clutch off to reach it. If you can do it yourself, you'll save a lot of money.

Super labor intensive. In short you're going to be dropping subframe and separating the tranny from the engine. You can DIY if your familiar with a wrench. All you'll need is a 18 or 16(for tranny and subframe), 15, 13, 10mm socket, needle noses pliers, Jack stands, beer, a friend, breaker bar, beer for said friend. (I'm sure I missed something, oh yeah, the reverse Torx bits to get behind the flywheel)
Here's the best guide:
, this is what I used, took about a day and a half my first time around. Only half a day second time removing tranny. You can do it. But if money is not a problem, hell pay a shop the couple grand. (I'd do it myself)

Oh, hi there John. This is drewdrewmrgq@yahoo, sure you remember me. I ordered the complete Midlands tranny rebuild kit.... Yes.

Why no reply to any of my emails? You stated you possibly sent me a bad 3rd gear synchro hub... When it came down to it though, you failed to make it right? What happened. I'd love to hear your side...

Thanks
You have a great day,
Don't forget to email me!
