freaking out! did I make a mistake by selling my R53 w/ 161k miles

I just sold my baby '05 R53. My first mini... I hope I didn't make a huge mistake. I just bought a 2013 R58 JCW Coupe. Do you think I made a good move???

Thanks to all those who reply! Motor on!!!

The new ones lack the rawness of the old!

At some point I've often regretted selling an old car. Wish I still had my 82 320is, but you learn to move on.

Enjoy the R58 JCW, it's a fun car.

Plenty of lower mileage R53s out there if you ever want to go back.

If you are not enjoying it as much in about a year, then you can always source and find a used '05 R53 to replace your current R58. For now, just drive it and enjoy it. Only time will tell if you truly still miss your R53.

Any mistake made in the automotive world can be corrected. It just costs some money, that's all and even that becomes history with time.

I'm facing the same decision right now. The wife's 16' Clubman arrives next month, and I can't stand the thought of letting our 03' R53 go! There's a lot of my blood, sweat and tears under that car and in the engine bay.

New guy here.

If you could have kept the old one? and still would have been able to get the 13' JCW. Then yea you made a mistake =P hehehe. (That's my future plan)

I would miss the whine from my 06 regardless of the other upgrades.
But that's just me.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the JCW either way.

ttyl,

Sean

Thanks everyone, it's been a rough week just seeing the empty spot in garage. The R58 I originally picked out was priced a little high for being a '13 with 30k miles and it was at a Carmax. I found another '13 in Arkansas with 10k miles on it for nearly the same price and Recaro JCW heated seats. Anyway the car is being trucked over and will be here early next week. I'll post pics! Thanks for all the support! And, no I would have been able to get the R58 without selling the R53. Thanks!!!

Yeah, hold onto her if you can. The clutch in the R53 feels a he'll of a lot better. But the N18 engine @ over boost with the JCW exhaust had me at the first growl.

Well, I'm sure the R58 will be a thrill. Good luck and yea post some pics.
I'm trying to get the wife to consider a Mini for her next car. But she teased me last night about not liking them. Time for a divorce I think...hehehe.

I just picked up an 02 R53 with 122k miles on it. So if you feel pulled back to the supercharged side I'm sure you will be able to find a nice one again. I'd love to have something as new as what you are getting though. Sounds like it's going to be a nice car!
