Is it possible to replace 05-06 taillights with 02-04 style?

My stock taillights are turning whitish, and I am considering going LED but also noticed these (link below) that are dirt cheap - 57 bucks a pair, shipped. My rear foglight is in the bumper, so that wouldn't be affected, just wondering if the turn signal and tail/brake light would be plug N play swappable? Anyone know?

I'd prefer the amber turn signal anyway.......

PS - Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

But you'd want to replace that with a 02-04 backup light, otherwise you'd have none. In any case the taillight conversion requires some minor rewiring, it is not directly plug and play.

The other option is to get the Euro version of 05-06 taillight, available with either amber or clear turn lens.

No I don't care about reverse lights or not on such an occasional use car.

Rewiring, though, is a dealbreaker. I wish I had the patience.

Yes I've seen those but 5 or 6 times the cost :(

Definitely not plug and play. Different setups.

If you don't care about reverse lights, it will be plug and play. Actually the 02-04 rear fog (top bulb) will light up for reverse, so it seems manageable. At $57 shipped, you have little to lose.

Don't do it, I have exactly this right now. It makes the lights go a bit haywire.

I wonder why they didn't make the top red ones be brakelights - higher, for maximum visibility on such a small car.....

Curious about this too. My statement was based on the wiring diagrams. They show pins 2 to 5 on the taillight being the same on 02-04 and 05-06 (2=ground, 3=turn, 4=brake, 5=rear). Pin 1 is shown as rear fog on 02-04 and reverse on 05-06. Pin 6 is unused.

I dont kno the dealer said the lights were causing strange issues, one light is on and the other is off, or one is dim and one is really bright. I've heard from people following me. Could be another reason I suppose, hard to say.
