So the Power Steering Pump on my 2006 MCS with only 40,800 miles is officially Dead ! ...Was going in and out intermittently the past month or so ...bought the car used 9 months ago .. Since my 06 is excluded from the Recall ( even though its the same damn pump they used for the First Gen) ...I found this Company that does this "Mini Cooper Power Steering Pump Exchange Service" on Ebay ...Here is the Link ....and they Offer LIFETIME WARRANTY ...What do you guys think ?? Has Anyone in this Forum used this Service ???

The pump in my 2004 was failing intermittently, before MINI announced the replacement campaign, and my research led me to conclude that BBA was a reputable outfit. Eventually mine was replaced by MINI.

Every BBA pump we have installed we had to do again so we don't use or recommend them.
So I'd recommend a new one as that is what we use in our shop.

I paid around $300 for it. Installed it myself over 2yrs ago. I also got my money back once BMW started doing the recalls on it.

Wow, that was a short life :-(

My 06 R53 just hit 118,000 miles and still has the original PS pump motor.

Recall only applies to 2002 - 2004 and some 2005 models.

The power steering pump on the MINI is one of those items that seems to have a bad reputation. It seems that this is one of the more common items to fail on the car. We do have a DIY that can help you with the install to save money. OEM supplier or Genuine is a good one to go with. As a tip, make sure your power steering pump fan is in good working order as well while you're doing the fix.
