Need help (lower steering shaft)

Guys, I just installed a new lower steering shaft and it was definitely my steering problem so I'm happy about that. I created a self induced problem though: when I took off the old steering shaft the wheels were straight and the steering wheel was straight. Not so much anymore.

When I Installed the new steering shaft I must have bumped something and now the car is straight with the steering wheel half over to the right.

Does anyone have any easy recommendations to right this? I'm going to drive it up on rhino ramps tomorrow with the wheels straight and then straighten the steering wheel once I uninstall the shaft and then reinstall. Not sure that'll work though.

You'll need to find someone with the proper scan tool to reset the steering angle sensor. If not the traction control light will come on.

Wait so I'm just pulling the airbag and making a new "straight" on the steering wheel? That's too easy if I'm reading it right.

If you have DSC you'll need to reset the steering angle sensor.

Same procedure as a BMW? Rack it full left to full right a few times?

Anyone know how to find Repair Instruction 6131006 that it refers to in the Detroit Tuned procedure post above? It is "Remove and refit bracket for steering column switch."

Thanks!

There's no reason really to tear into that far. Just move the steering wheel over 7 splines and call it a day.

I think the only reason they reference those instructions is if you really screw something up.

Great thanks! It's all buttoned up and I'm taking it to my Indy shop to reset the steering sensor tomorrow. It was more like 10 spindles so I hope it works ok. I readjusted it 4 or 5 times until it was straight and true going down the road.
