I'm glad to hear it's red paint...It looked pink on my monitor and I was too chicken to ask...

But, seriously, What bearings do you use with that setup?

Sneed has prices listed on his website

Complete engines from $3799 for stock to $7100 for their race version

Probably varies a lot depending on what you add or subtract

Some day when I have some money and time - I'm gonna rent a hitch and tow the mini down to their shop in NC. Drop it off and Come back when sneed has installed a motor and all the parts needed to warrant a button for ludicrous speed.....some day

I've never built a mini motor, and all I really know about the kind of power you can get out of them is from what I've read on this site......

That being said.......with a big valve race head, head/intake ported and polished, and aftermarket cam...and I'm assuming a 15% or so pulley, an aftermarket header/exhaust.....isn't 256hp kind of low?

I really have no idea....just trying to learn a little here.

I was thinking the same thing, and you have to rev the hell out of it to get the 250.

My guess is boost is the limiting factor with the stock sc

I've seen some guys on here claiming 275+ hp with the same type of mods (big valve head, port and polish work, cam, tune, pulley, header, exhaust)........just wondering what they are doing different to make that kind of power. Or maybe their claims aren't really what they claim to be.

We use Bytetronik Full Access software for tuning and then Chris tunes them on our dyno. We sell the kits here - http://www.sneed4speed.com/r53-bytet...ss-tuning-kit/ and remote tunes here - http://www.sneed4speed.com/r53-ecu-flash-tune/

As far as R53s making 275 with the stock supercharger, the answer is Dynojet dyno measuring. Dynojets will read higher than any other dyno so the HP rating will be higher but the actual HP is the same. Our dyno is set to measure like Mustang and other popular dyno brands so that our HP numbers will be correct across other dynos and for race compliance for people racing in HP to weight classes.
Also, our cars will run for years on track at these HP levels where others in the pursuit of higher HP numbers sacrifice reliability for short lived HP gains.

Thanks for the great explanation.....that makes perfect sense!

I have about the same mod's, or maybe be a few more and I made 220 HP at 6200 rpm's. Oh and mine's an automatic. I wish there was a way to reach a higher RPM but the transmission wont let it. So I'll live with it. It's still fun.

Didn't the JCW R53's make 215hp? You are only making an extra 5hp with pulley, cam, head, porting....?

I'm guessing that like others have said....the dyno readings seem to vary a bunch.

I'd be amazed if the JCW's were making 215hp, the stock 03 r53's were making 163hp I'd bet the JCW was more like 185hp
