R50/53 Body Colored Dashed
Body Colored Dashed
I have a Mini Cooper S Convertible on order in the Cool Blue with the Navy Leather interior and Blue top. What are your thoughts on getting the Body Colored Dash. I have the Silver Dash on order to play it safe. Is the Body Colored Dash too much? My production date of completion is August 27th and I am toying with this change.
It's really your decision on how much or little blue you want to see on your dash. You have to live with the color for the life of the car so choose carefully. Most times silver is quite light in color compared to the metallic and dark anthracite. I think the silver from the older MINIs is not very durable compared to anthracite.
I'm not sure how durable the body colored dash parts will be but I would guess that they OK.

I like the body colored dash, and since its the same paint that exists outside the car, it should be pretty durable. What I do not like are the cheesy body-colored door trim, but I guess you can live with that. Ob the whole, I'd say yes.
My 05 MCS in CR/W with the body color dash and chrome is on its way. Let me tell you I was quite uncertain about it. Well the other day I passed the mini dealer and my wife said hey there is a purple one out front. I stopped. They had a car in a very similar speck to mine with the red dash. Let me tell you that wow it looked better than I thought. My wife who does not like glitz said that she loved the red with the chrome.
When you close the doors the casing is red and it gives you a feel of red all around. I think its just enough and not too much. Go see if your dealer has one to look at, they might.

I too have seen it in red. The interior was suprisingly COOL with the red dash, not too much. The car is afterall , a fun car. And I think MINI kept it to a tasteful amount of red . Sorry, I don't recall there being matching red door interiors but my honey and I agreed the red dash was terrific looking.
Of course, I haven't sat in it, nor driven it ...so it's not out of the question it could become too much. Still I ordered a cool blue with blue dash...
CAn't wait to start seeing them on the road.

I personally think you will be happy with your choice. From the pictures I've seen of the body colored interiors, it really looks sharp...
Chow!

I think you'll be happy with whatever you choose. However, in my opinion, the silver dash that everyone gets is ugly, sorry everyone out there who has one. I'm a big fan of the anthracite dash, I'm really glad thats what I ordered, it gives the interior much less of a "plastic" look.
Well, I don't know anything about the new body-colored dashes that MINI is offering but I can tell you that my dash has been painted since the day I picked it up almost 1 year ago and the paint is holding up really well. Only "problem" is it means there is more car to wax!
I'm happy to see MINI offering the body colored interior trim but I'm not so sure about the body colored door trim. To me that's a little too much.

I'm sure you'll be happy with it the way you ordered it.

I persoanlly think the anthracite looks terrible, to each his own but no thanks, the metal looks lieka kitchen sink to me... which i liek in kithcen sinks and even in hard shapes liek teh trim of teh z4 , somethign abtouthe mini doesn't say anthracite to me... However, I do like the silver adn I haven't have any problems with it "holding up" but I thinkthe body color match would be pretty sweet, I always liekt the outside of the car spilliing into the interior feel, and hey if you don't like the interior doors, I bet you could swap with someone who would want that color...
I too considered the body color dash when I ordered my CR/W MCS a few weeks ago. However, because I also ordered the RedCloth/BlkLthr seats, I decided that there would simply be too many pieces of red - and different shades of red at that - spread around the interior, at least for my taste. I decided on anthracite instead. At the very least I'd suggest that you make sure that the body color blue and the seat blue are a pretty close match.
Personally, I love the body color dash especially the Cool Blue. If I was going to order a new MINI, it would be Cool Blue or Hyper Blue with the body color dash. I don't think IMHO it is too much at all. I would maybe order a black top and black (or maybe blue) seats to give it some contrast.
Everyone ordering a 2005 NEEDS to order it with the body colored dash. I took a chance and got it in my LY MINI without seeing it in person. Wow, it is absolutely stunning. It is probably my favorite option I included with the car and best of all, it was free.

before. However I still think thats too much color coding creating a "ricey" look.
I think body colored dash is a little "too much" and looks a bit silly.
The PT Cruiser has had this since day 1 and while it looks OK in that car as the colors are not as vivid as the MINI ... in my eyes the MINI colors make the interior look too toy-like.
But to each his own, whatever makes you happy.
Personally, if I purchased another MC, would still keep the silver or anthracite dash
